Surely this is taking a rant to far...

I think her complaint was that she'd have to pay a fee to change her details. Changing a name should take a telephone operator a few seconds to do but it sounds like Thomas Cook saw an opportunity to force their customers to choose between paying an extortionate fee or forfeit their holiday.
There may be a little more work involved than that. If flights etc. have been booked by the travel agent, the names will have to be changed with the airline. Then they presumably will have to reprint all the documentation and stuff like that.0 -
It's a standard security thing as far as I know. All tickets have to match passports - common sense really, otherwise anyone could use your tickets. I doubt that any operators do the change for free.
Surely if she wants to be known be her married name she would be changing her passport anyway? Why not do it now so it matches the booking name?
I thought this was made up or an old April Fools story - her name is Austin Kettle and she's going to be Mrs Leeks - but it's in the Mail too:

for the boiling of bunnies :rotfl:"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0
