fair point i guess what i'm saying is email the seller it could have been a mistake with the weight etc.
Perhaps thinking it would be too heavy for anything other than courier/sp and if they do what i do at the po which is everything second class or sp they might not have noticed that it actually went 2nd instead of sp. either way they did quote courier and with a quick email you might find they are happy to give you the difference back or they could just as easily be an a hole lol

Exactly. It is possible a mistake such as this was made. But that doesn't excuse the failure to email with details of the 'new' service and any appropriate refund.

Don't get me wrong, I am on the side of 'the total price inc postage is the price you pay' camp, but if you pay for a service, then you should at the very least get it.

It wasn't RMP, it was 2nd class, so I am not sure why you pose the question.

But 2nd class is usually faster than Standard Parcels (up to 3 working days compared to up to 5) and the only other difference is smaller items are delivered to most urban addresses not by van and larger items are by van.

I mentioned standard parcels as it is effectively the same as a slow courier service.

    hi,

but it was advertised as a courier - so i thought i would get it the next day, or maybe saturday morning at the latest and that was another attraction of using this seller so it would be there for the weekend -

    thanks

I know its wasnt sent via courier as stated but with regards to receiving it the next day did it say dispatched within 1 business day and sent by 24 hour courier? Unless it stated this then i wouldnt have expected it next day or sat (as sat delivery is a lot more expensive)

However i agree if it states sent via courier it should have been as i wouldnt consider Royal Mail as a courier.

What made you think you would get it next day? If it was advertised 24hr courier, don't email, give a negative. If it wasn't, don't email and move on.
All the "you paid for the service" fanatics don't seem to realise you have said the total was half that of other sellers.
That's a result mate. And two times £2.84 is a good amount more than £5, so you didn't pay almost double.

not really,a buyer may specifically select a seller using a courier
eg in my last job i worked in the same estate as nearly all of the courier depots
so it was far easier to get a courier package than from my local RM depot
in the end its not for the seller ot decide after the listing ends,or at the very least they sould message the buyer before sending to check its okay

    hi,

im wondering what people think - ive just received (monday) something that i won on thursday.

the p & P was £5 courier, but it arrived today have been posted 2nd class at a total of £2.84.

Although i ended up paying almost twice the actual postage, i got the item in total (price + P & P)for about half the price of similar ones - so im not really unhappy about the overall price -

but it was advertised as a courier - so i thought i would get it the next day, or maybe saturday morning at the latest and that was another attraction of using this seller so it would be there for the weekend -

What, if anything, do people think i should do?

    thanks

you cant have it both ways OP
Saturday is not a standard working day for couriers,so never expect them ot deliver on a Saturday

I'm not trying to defend the person who used RM instead of courier but saying that by them saying just courier and not a specific courier or service doesn't really have an advantages over RM.

Custardy you say you lived near most courier's depots. However, some couriers do not allow you to collect from the depot and you must phone to rearrange re-delivery and you also use the word 'most' so unless a specific one is specified then you could finish up with a 25 mile trip to pick up a parcel.

Was the packaging worth £0 then or was it worth around £1.50 meaning you paid around 65p more than it cost the seller?

If it was me I'd leave a neutral saying something like "Item received but not sent by delivery method specified."

I was in a similar situation last week and I left positive feedback as the overall price of the item was very good, but left a reduced star rating on postage as it wasnt posted like the seller said it was.

It is false advertising and was probably that the seller wouldn't to avoid the maximum p&p fee eBay impose for the category. However, in reality what's the difference between Royal Mail Standards Parcels and a courier service apart from most couriers are faster?
LOL I avoid courier delivery from ebay as if you live on a small island, or even in the highlands, couriers are definitely NOT faster or cheaper!
