Query over postage & fees

hi,
im wondering what people think - ive just received (monday) something that i won on thursday.
the p & P was £5 courier, but it arrived today have been posted 2nd class at a total of £2.84.
Although i ended up paying almost twice the actual postage, i got the item in total (price + P & P)for about half the price of similar ones - so im not really unhappy about the overall price -
but it was advertised as a courier - so i thought i would get it the next day, or maybe saturday morning at the latest and that was another attraction of using this seller so it would be there for the weekend -
What, if anything, do people think i should do?
thanks

If you are satisfied with the overall price incl p&p then I would not pursue a refund. But I personally would have to mention it to the seller, probably a brief comment in the message I always send to confirm receipt.

Forget what you paid, the service is what you paid for. Email the seller and ask for an explanation. Courier is courier, not 2nd class post.0

I would email and ask why it came 2nd class instead of courier and maybe mention the price seemed a bit high considering.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

And consider your feedback and stars by how the seller responds.0

If someone pays me late on a thurday night i can't book a courier for the next day, they then don't class sat/sun as working days so it doesn't leave my place then until monday.
Perhaps the seller was trying to be helpfull and get the item to you quicker than the courier would have been able to?
Did it say 24 or 48hr courier? unless it did say one of those i think you've got your item quite quickly as if it had come by courier some take 3-5days anyway.
I wouldn't have charged a 5er though and if i did use another service i would be emailing the buyer explaining why and offering a refund of the difference.0 -

Most couriers can be booked same day up to 11am, some much later if you are contracted.
If the seller was trying to do him a favour he would have sent it 1st not 2nd. There is no excuse. You pay for a service, if if isn't done, then you should at least email to say why and then refund if necessary.0 -

It is false advertising and was probably that the seller wouldn't to avoid the maximum p&p fee eBay impose for the category. However, in reality what's the difference between Royal Mail Standards Parcels and a courier service apart from most couriers are faster?0 -
Maybe the seller forgot to change the delivery service, as I can't imagine that many sellers would sent a parcel of 1kg maximum weight via courier.0

It wasn't RMP, it was 2nd class, so I am not sure why you pose the question.0 -

fair point i guess what i'm saying is email the seller it could have been a mistake with the weight etc.
Perhaps thinking it would be too heavy for anything other than courier/sp and if they do what i do at the po which is everything second class or sp they might not have noticed that it actually went 2nd instead of sp. either way they did quote courier and with a quick email you might find they are happy to give you the difference back or they could just as easily be an a hole lol0
