We have gone to Goa a few times and the weather is just perfect. Have also be to sri Lanka then and Gambia but like squirrel chops would never go back. Have also done the middle east like Dubai and Abu Dhabi but not so hot as Goa then.

We have been to Malaga over Christmas before, a budget trip in 2008 the first year we decided to go away over Christmas, the weather was very kind, never rained at all, cost us around £1K for three of us.

Went to Orlando last Christmas, got stuck in Newark going and coming back, had to buy fleeces and waterproof coats as the weather was undseasonably cold (snow was predicted for the night we left) It was also very busy in the parks and on the roads surrounding the parks. It cost a LOT more than £1K, trip of a lifetime type budget. I would go back, just not at Christmas (too busy for us)

Next Christmas we are looking at the Canaries or Egypt (we had booked Lanzarote but Thomas cook changed our flight time by 10 minutes.. and three days, so we have had to cancel that and will rebook something else after our summer hols.

We took cheap nick nacks for our DD and left her main present at home, so she ended up having three Crimbos - some presents before we left, some when we were there, and some when we came back. She loves it (she's 11 now)

Getting some sun over Christmas is wonderful for us, as we both have SAD, and though we take vitamin D to keep us sane:p real sunshine is definitely a big lift mid winter.:D
