if the car is left at the garage for headlamp alignment then no fee should be charged as per vosa instructions

anyhow realigning takes 5 mins and will be fast tracked through the vosa mot computer.
i would complain to NW hq at ask for a refund and compensation as they hate bad press (especially as watchdog made a program about them last year. never got to air due to NW lawyers stopping it and the beeb being skint.

£13 for adjusting the headlights is taking the mickey. They are entitled to charge for work done but its the kind of thing most garages would do for free to create a bit of good will.

Isn't this electronic on most cars anyway? The headlights on my Panda are all motorised and I just flip a switch to adjust the allignment.

Lights are on the list anyway, so even if you take it and fix it there should be no fee.
Does not include headlight alignment. Another point that your linked website is not very accurate about. For the real deal see http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/MOT%20test%20fees%20and%20appeals%20aPR%2010.pdf

    fair enough,
    quote from your link then.

"If the vehicle is left at the testing station for repair and is retested before the end of 10 working days following the day of the initial failure, then only a partial retest is needed for which no fee may be charged."

my link has the extra word MOT in it, and they took may and initial out

"if the vehicle is left at the MOT testing station for repair and is retested before the end of 10 working days following the day of failure, then only a partial retest is needed for which no fee is charged."

either way, no charge if the car is left there and the work is done by the garage.

I am not disputing that. It is just that the linked website misses out a few things that confuse the issues of retest fees.

That is not headlight alignment it is purely for load adjustment. The headlights need to be in the "normal" position for testing.
