Gawd no, I hate the mirror, I usually look in at small areas at a time, rather than taking the full blast . Thats the thing I hate at dentists, hairdressers and indeed, skin clinic when they produce a huge mirror for you to look into, I always cringe in horror.
Yes, I am pleased - you very easily forget what it was like before, but I remember, before my first session over a year ago, sitting watching tv and feeling the "waves" above my top lip which were really awful. I used to spend a lot of time with a wide grin on my face because that would stretch the verticle lines out - I probably looked like care in the community. I thought the lines were down to smoking for 40 years or more (I packed up 5 years ago) but the skin doctor told me it wasnt that, just the lack of oestrogen after the menopause.
Another week or so and I think things will be settled. I am going back to see the doctor (rather than nurse) 3rd week in July.
Just thought, isnt it odd - when I was young ladies of my age had grey/blue perms, no make up, lots of wrinkles and crimplene trousers. Things have changed so much for our generation where many of us seem to have stayed young inside and still have enthusiasm for new ideas. I feel 28 inside, shame the legs arent the same age thoughWhen I went to a sale at House of Fraser they had these gorgeous skinny grey jeans and I thought Ill just try them on
The young assistants caught me looking at the mirror with them on and urged me to buy them. LOL. My mother wouldnt have dreamed of wearing tight grey jeans in studded ankle boots at my age

you sound so happy! I reckon those lines above the mouth you obsessed about are smoking though. I am 65, never smoked, and I dont have even one of those (althoughI have all the rest!). Mind you, as you say, its largely genetics, I def inherited my good skin from my mum0

Cor, you are lucky re the vertical lip lines, I dont think I know anyone else of our age who escaped that one
I also whistled/whistle a lot, not just at my dogs, but tunes - it was just something we did in our family and I wonder if that worsened it too. I actually got my goodish skin from my dad. He died 5 years ago at the age of 91 - still looking about 15 years younger than his real age, bless him. Wonderful man, veggie all his life, long before it was fashionable.
Day 6 now - very very faint small bruise which covered with clinique make up (dont use that usually, too heavy, but came in handy for the bruise). Ventured out to cut the front hedge and had at least a dozen people stop to talk to me and I didnt see any eyes moving to the bruise/duck lip area, so I think I must be virtually back to normal now. Put on some lip gloss but removed it as the lips still look a bit too angeline jolie for my liking and the lip gloss emphasised it- another week on them I reckon.0 -
Very glad you are so happy too!
I have those lines above my top lip and I've never smoked. I think its oestrogen depletion related also.Oh, and I whistle to meself!
I went to see about getting fillers but the advice I was given was that for my face a chemical peel would be suitable. I'm nearly halfway there now, I've had two of the four applications of Easy TCA and am awaiting a small miracle. it's not a terribly pleasant experience it has to be said!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Great, hope it goes well. My friend had the really strong one where her face went black  Have to say her skin is beautifully soft now though. Are you going to a sk:n clinic?0

Oh scary! That must have been the phenol (carbolic acid!) peel.
I have atight feeling and some light peeling rather like sunburns but not too noticeable.
To be honest, I'm not really expecting a great result but one can but live in hope!
The worst part has been that one of the various creams I am applying makes my yes water like fury, i've had to pretend Ive developed hay fever! Its horrible, feels like I'm peeling onions all day long, but Im going to try a different sunblock tomorrow, I think it may be that.
I know that feeling you described of people looking at a part of you! I spend a fair bit of time grimacing, or using my hands so they wont notice the temporary extra creases in the dried out skin!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Things we go through
But as I said to my OH, its for ME I do these things because it gives me a boost - I think we all need a boost particular when we have gotten to that "invisible" age. Im damned if Im going to be invisible, eh!
The skin girl told me about that course as they have the discount now dont they but she said to me that as my skin is pretty good I could buy some cream and wash to put on daily which isnt as strong as having it done like you but over time would have a similar effect. As they had also reduced the creams they sell heavily I did buy some but obviously I cant start using them til this has all settled.0 -
Just to update the ladies wot are interested
Now 11 days and all pretty much settled. Small bruise had gone after a week and only slight sensitivity if I press the areas treated. Met up with my friend yesterday and she immediately said how well I looked and I told her Id been redone. She also said my face looks much more defined now. So all in all, Im very satisfied. Still another couple of weeks before I see the doctor for a check up but I think its gone very well. Good luck to any of you who decide to take the plunge too.
