Hi there, well its the smokers lines (I packed up 4 years ago) that look worse.( I keep thinking "Dot Cotton") They have different packages and the girl said to speak to the doctor when I go - I reckon they may do a deal :). You have to have a doctor/dentist do the first one, you can change to a registered nurse if he says its ok. But the basic cost with the doctor/dentist is £380 less 20% discount - £304(I bet they always give that though :)). I went for a consultation last week which is free with the registered nurse. With a nurse its £320 less the 20% discount - £256.

It gets less for more areas, if you have 3 areas you pay for just 2. If you recommend a friend and they have a treatment you get a £50 off voucher and the friend gets £25 off.

Im thinking may be having botox in the frown lines above my nose too.

This new Juvederm Ultra apparently lasts up to a year.

Trouble is, Ive been googling for before and after photos, and to be honest I cant see a lot of difference in some of them

A friend had her nose to mouth lines done last year with a different clinic using Restalyn and she had dreadful bruising down her face. Im hoping I dont get that :( She is very thin though, may be that makes a difference.

Kath, just to let you know  Went to the clinic, the doctor/dentist was only a young chap, but very nice. Anyway, I said I wanted the upper lip wrinkles filled and also the lines that go from the corners down. He said to me that if I had a limited budget he would recommend just the nose to mouth lines be done because that would soften all the other lines. SO, in the end I decided to have them aswell, rather than instead :) I also got the frown lines above my nose done too with the filler rather than botox.

OK, pain wise, not bad at all, very fine needles, rather like someone pinching you rather than an injection. He also got the nurse to put on some anaesthetic cream for half an hour before he started. He said to put on arnica cream when I got home to minimise bruising.

As he was doing it he kept saying he was really pleased how it was going. You have to keep sitting up so he can look at which bit to do next. At the end he got the nurse to clean my face and he was looking at me and saying thats really a good result, you will be pleased with that. The nurse, who was lovely said to me, look in the mirror (I didnt want to!) ignore the redness and you can see the difference, you will love it. Well, I looked but all I could see was the redness and some pin !!!!! needle marks so I took their word :)

When I got home I looked in the mirror, Id had a good hard look before I went to the clinic, the lines above my mouth when I pouted had been truly awful (real dot cotton) and the lines either side going down dragged the corners of my mouth down. WELL, now the nose to mouth creases were just faint lines. The lines going down from the corners were gone, but there was a redness like Id had a cold sore or something either side. The frown line creases were gone but there are two lines with red needle marks there, the very bad wrinkles above my mouth are almost unoticeable but there is still swelling particular on one side (I think I look like Rio Ferdinand - lol) but Im pretty sure that will go down over the next couple of days. Im surprised that there is no heavy bruising like my friend had with restalyne - but she went to another place anyway.

They said to go back in 2 weeks to see the nurse or 4 weeks if I wanted to see the doctor (he visits from London) for any refinements and to see how its settled.

All in all, a lot of money to spend but then Im an OAP now (although I still work part time) and basically its 2 months pension which I think Im worth :) They said it should last up to 9 months and I think if/when I go back Ill dump the frown lines, save that money as my fringe covers them really.

 Well done, thankyou for posting again.

I'ts funny as i stopped smoking 31/2 yrs ago and feel this last year lines on top lip are really noticable now and when i look in the mirror it's all i seem to see (yep dot cotton effect!!)

I also have a thick heavy fringe to cover terrible 2 frown lines i have had for as long as i can remember:eek:

You've definately got me interested as although it sounds a lot of money (i'd need to save) it's still a bargain compared to the cost of fags not bought over the last few years, and if it makes you feel better about yourself it is worth it, will let you know:D.

    Thanks, kat

Apparently if you add together treatments that come to £750 plus you can have interest free credit :) Yes, I feel the same, £40 a week on fags (and it would be more now) £2k a year, some of that I give to charities now, to make sure I never start again (Id be letting down the charities) and the rest I decided I deserve to spend on myself.

I will let you know how it goes in the next few days when it should settle.

Day 2 and the rather delightful Rio Ferdinand upper lip has been replaced by what looks like an Errol Flynn tache pmsl. Bruising has now come up along the upper lip. Nothing at all on the nose to mouth lines though and just a bit either side of mouth where the marionette lines were done.

Forehead feels rather swollen still but they said 72 hours for things to settle, so I am hanging on in.

Just dont do this the day before a holiday or big event guys, I reckon 2 weeks at least before an event to make sure it has all settled
    Will update again

    Oh, forgot to update :)

Well, on day 7 the bruises which were on my upper lip disappeared :) Id been putting on arnica cream all the time and I think that helps. I ventured out to the hairdressers to book an appointment, 3 of the girls were at reception and one said, You really look well, have you been on holiday? LOL, I had to grin and another said, Youve had something done, havent you? I did tell them and they were all well impressed :)

Have to say I was thinking may be there wasnt a lot of difference, compared with the money Id spent, but this morning I thought, I can look in the mirror without seeing that horrible rippling upper lip nor the lines going down either side of my mouth. Its worth it :) Also, not sure if Im imagining this, but my upper lip which seemed to have thinned over the past few years as I aged seems to be plumper and fuller now.

Im going for a check up on Thursday at the clinic for the nurse to have a look at the settled results.

Been back today for my two week check up. Nurse was pleased with results but wanted to put some more "support" in one side in one of the lines that go down from your mouth. My face is naturally rather lopsided really - well not symmetrical so I half expected they would want to do some "refining" as they call it :) So thats done now and hopefully, I wont need to go for another 6 - 9 months (if I can afford it again).

I still cant remember properly how it was before, so if any of you go, take a photo at home before you have it done. However, a 40 year old delivery girl said to me this morning as I was helping her carry stuff in, that she couldnt believe Im an OAP now -"theres hardly a line on your face is there" PMSL.

Hethmar? Are you around?I wondered if you were still pleased? I see my dentist has started offering this and I was considering it. I dont smoke but I have those same lines ( maybe from unladlylike whistling?!) and others besides. I feel my cheek pads have gone flat but I dont want the bid apple style ones celebs have done.

don't use a dentist go to a doctor led clinic, some of the clinics have the experienced nurses do it too - but several times I have read that dentists are just jumping on bandwagon I am sure there are good ones but I doubt that they are cheaper and would always prefer the appropriate specialists
