Santander Zero application...how long usually?

Hi all,

Following some useful advice from members of the forum (Yorkshire Boy & Cannyjock:beer:) I have gone ahead and applied for a Balance Transfer to get rid of my Halifax card (rate hike). Has anybody had experience of applying for the the Santander Zero Card - done it online...how long does it take normally to get a response? Crossing my fingers I'll manage to get it as my credit report is fine, as is my score, but I know that doesnt always mean I'll get accepted. Really flaming hope so though would be great!

Any ideas folks?

There's been many post saying that customer service & credit card application with Santander is appalling with lost applications, waiting for weeks for a reply....so if I were you I would be very patient unless you are one of the lucky ones...

Process from start to finish can be 6 weeks. Think mine was about that.

Thanks both. I think I have around 2 months until they hike the rate on my current card..so hopefully can get it all done by then. Just seems a bit too good to be true, no BT fee, 0% etc...makes me wonder whether I'll manage to get it. But then again Santander have been pretty good to me so far so with a bit of luck. Ive heard lots of horror stories but if anything have found them to be very easy to deal with and no probs. Theres me saying that now..tempting fate.

I applied on Feb 7th and only got a refusal over the phone and they have sent me nothing in writing.

The customer service has been appalling right from branch staff to the credit card phoneline people.

I'm now putting in a formal complaint with their customer service people.

Yes it's crap but i'm not old enough or got the time or energy to moan. My life isn't that dull!

I applied to Tesco and got instant decision and the card in less than a week.

Santander declined my Zero card application 3-4 weeks after my application. I checked my credit records with Experian and Equifax - no problems found, both excellent. However, there was no sign of any searches by Santander, so they refused my application without ever checking my credit records. I appealed against their decision, and then I noticed they did a search few days after receiving my letter. Still waiting for the outcome.

Thats odd. I wonder when or if I will hear anything, no word yet so not getting my hopes up. Seems although ive never had any problems with Santander re: my current a/c, they seem to have an awful lot of bad feedback re: credit card customer services, so Im not expecting much. It would help me alot though with Halifax trying to sting me at a time I least need it.

Normally a "super decline" like that means that the information on the application form doesn't meet their basic requirements (like you've said that you're unemployed and have £30k of existing debt) so they don't waste time with a search. In a way they're doing you a favour ;)

I've given up on my Santander Zero Credit Card application although I've been accepted.

After my original application and reapplying as requested, I've twice received, ".....Unfortunately, we have been unable to progress your application. In order to continue with your application, you will required to complete a new Credit Card application form..."

If their customer service is so bad at this stage, I hate to think what it would be like if I actually had their card.
