    Hmm.... for example; an email sent earlier from Emirates: Bangkok £483 6th April - 15th July 2010 & 11th August - 30th November 2010
Emirates are rarely the cheapest indirect, so £600 is just too much.

Problems may arise when quoted prices exclude taxes fees and charges, if the price of £483 does exclude them then add another £88 for that route in economy from LHR or £76 from BHX.

I normally go to Thailand every year in April, flights have averaged about £500 each time over the years, always fly with someone different, depends who is the cheapest, last flight was with EVA and they were fab, normally have a stopover. I book 2-6 months in advance, I check regularly and click when I see a good price.

This year I have had to change plans and will try to go in August which seems to be double what I normally pay (school holidays?) so I'm just cheking online pretty much daily hoping something comes up in my price range! I just want to see my Dad...!

Dave Z any chance you can have a look for me? 2 weeks anytime during August!!
Really should be doing some work...

Of course the prices quoted are inclusive.

£492 return if you can hold on and depart on 21st Aug or later. Book by 20th Jun. £786 if you wanna stump up for premium economy (Elite), though having flown this myself, it's not really worth the extra imo.

Just thought i would add that there is no flight on 25th Aug (at present). We've got some flights cancelled due to delivery delays from Boeing for new 777's.

You must have left off the pence then?

I had a quick look for the OP and BHX to BKK via DXB on EK
4th April to 19 April (price doesnt seem to change going in March - April)
(didnt know what dates op wanted but that covers the Sonkrun festival if thats what they want and thats the Easter hols, at least it is for my DD school 11-25th)
    Fare only. £475
    inc tax etc. £576.04

Or from LHR via DOH on QR inc £541.67

Or direct from LHR on EVA inc £664.67

Thats not a published fare so you would need to shop around and might pay an agency fee on top.

Clearly you missed the most important part of my post.
for example; an email sent earlier from Emirates

My point was to illustrate historical prices for April, in order to show that £600 for an indirect flight did not represent good value.

The only fare relevent is the one you can get right now.

Don't be obtuse. Maybe you need to read the original post in order to refresh your mind as to why the OP posted, instead of going off on your own tangent.
In other words, unless you are travelling over superpeak and peak seasons, there is always a case for waiting for the special offers to come up, as illustrated by the email I received from Emirates in April.
Though flying from BHX will in fact lessen your chance of getting a better deal, so one should look for historical prices from that airport.

Before you hit us with another of your pearls of wisdom, I have taken over fifty flights to and from the region, so I might have some idea.
  • I did London - Muscat - Dubai - Muscat - Bangkok - Muscat - London for £366 return last month with Oman Air. Of course you don't need to do the dog-leg into Dubai and back, but as it was the same price, I thought why not??

The flights to and from Heathrow were full, but those to and from Bangkok had under 100 on board. They also fly brand new A330s, and you get 2 meals, plus snacks and free drinks (including alcohol) on each 7 hour main sector.

I really can't rate Oman Air highly enough!

Booked on Opodo about 2 months before travel.
  • Hello,

Yes some travel agents already open their booking for the next season. Thailand for the next year is avialable in the market easily, you just need to do some market search or look for the better travel agents in UK.
Also you can get the direct flight to the Bangkok with Eva Air, or indirect flights with Etihad, Emirates etc.

You just have a look for the fares to Thailand at myvacations.co.uk for the next year booking or call them directly, i m sure they'll help you to get the best deal.

    Have a nice day. :)
