i wanted a country house type but its more often than not on an exclusive use only basis and thats where they have to charge alot
alot of hotels offer packages but are quite restrictive to what you actually get ie: you have to have such and such wedding breakfast and limited numbers

i like your idea on the whole, i thinks its nice what your doing but i dont think its very money saving
you can still advertise it though to the 'higher end' bride to bes!
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

so you arent planning on doing the work of a wedding planner, in the sense that a bride comes up with some ideas, and you then work out a wedding for them based on that

what you are offering is the use of one venue, sorting out catering arrangements, flowers, etc. which is the basics any venue would offer anyway. then basically giving a bride a catalogue of your pre-chosen dresses, and thats it

for £10k i would be wanting something a bit more individual, that is what a wedding planner is for. knowing how to make your day special, not some pick and choose menu, that will be replicated on a weekly, if not daily basis

i think your target market would be very small, in that it would only appeal to people who dont have the time or inclination to think about having a truly personal day. i could see this appealing more to men than women, so maybe go down the route of 'surprise' weddings, where the groom has done all the arranging, and the bride has it sprung upon her

can i add i have not added any website links or conact details. This is NOT spam its a genuine post to see what others think.
with the average wedding being £20,000 these days i know not many want or have this money so i am trying to find out what the more average bride is willing to spend for a complete wedding?

    In that case, I apologise.

When arranging my own wedding I got used to the fact that many/most people involved in the wedding industry seemed to be trying to rip me off in some way.

p.s. It ended up costing us a lot less than £10,000... and I only got ripped off for the cake.

It would be too dear and too pointless for me to be honest. As others have said you are offering a package of what most venues offer with bits on top that people normally would do themselves - girlie day dress shopping etc etc.
The only thing I can think of to make it work is either as above for Suprise Weddings or if you get a job as a wedding co ordinator at the country house! (If you only had one venue as well I would check what wedding arrangements for coordinators they have anyway.)

    it would include:
Venue, wedding breakfast, reception drinks, evening buffet, bride's dress, bridesmaids dress, suit hire, flowers, venue decoration, evening entertainment, wedding cake, photographer, stationery and a full wedding planning service throughout including the wedding day

Im just trying to get an idea what people expect to pay for somthing like this?

If I was considering this I would want to know:

How many people could I have?
How many courses would be included?

What courses would be available to me?
Could I offer options to guests?
What about extras - teas & coffees at the end of the meal, canapes etc?
What exactly does "reception drinks" include?
    What is the buffet?
What are my choices of dress designer/price range?
What kind of flowers are available?
    What is "venue decoration"?
What kinds of evening entertainment can you offer?
What kinds of cake could I have?
What would the photographer package include and can I choose the photographer?

I just don't see how you can offer an all-inclusive package that will meet everyone's requirements. The key thing about weddings is that they are personal to each couple. You can't offer a "one size, fits all" package - who would want that on their wedding day?

In my opinion as a bride-to-be, you need to consider a more flexible approach if you are going to have any sort of custom. The only reasons I would have ever considered hiring a wedding planner are:

    1) Their contacts - if they have built up an established ring of suppliers who they work with regularly and know will deliver the goods, that is a worthwhile benefit

    2) Their organisation & creativity - with a wedding planner, I would discuss with them our budget, our ideas for the day, our "must-haves" and our "can compromise on's", and expect them to work within our remit to achieve *our* personal vision of our wedding day

    3) Their bargaining power - a wedding planner may have more leverage over certain suppliers.

However, all that said, we are not having a wedding planner because it seems an unnecessary luxury to me. I would imagine that the same applies to many moneysaving brides-to-be. Therefore you may be better off considering a different market where wedding planners are more in demand.

Hope that is helpful & good luck with your endeavour!

wow ours is costing us about £4000 hopefully with the extra £1000 towards honeymoon thats the venue, ceremony, overnight (before and after) welcome drinks, 2 bots of wine per table, 3 course meal for 65 plus coffee, buffet for evening, photographer, enteertainment (casino tables, choc fountain, entertainer dj,) all table wear(centre pieces favors kids bags etc) cake, dress, bm and fg dress and x3 suit hire, rings and thankyou gifts! im doing well so far lol i think the whole "average wedding costing £20,000" is ridiculous these days as most places offer great deals but after our venue charging £1500 for meal etc i looke at other places and couldnt get round to payig them double for same thing!!

the dress-how does she go about this what if she took a risk and ordered from china for £100 what does the rest of money go too or what if it comes to less then £10,000? x

Vik - do you have any wedding planning qualifications? Some wedding planners offer packages but they tend to be those targetting the lower end of the market, other planners such as myself work bespoke.

I think that the price you have qyoted is somewhat unrealistic and I think that you should do some more research to find out what your competitors charge - some work on a percentage basis, some work on a part fixed fee and part percentage basis and others work on a bespoke fixed fee...those that charge a percentage tend to over inflate their prices so the client has no idea what they will end up paying. If you have a professional qualification then you can charge more but after talking to other planners around the country then our fees are fairly similar according to the market which we are targetting. I admit that I am middle to high end and gay market, others are low end.
