  • This is all really helpful. Thanks ever so much. I think I shall try a combination of supertight straps, dire threats;) and the sticker chart for a while, with a Britax eclipse as a fall back.

Glad it's not just my little monkey!!! He's only 18 months and we've already had 3 different car seats because he always teaches himself how to unfasten them. And believe me we have had it that tight the straps have marked his shoulders, also had it looser but then he just climbs out. He also opened the car door the other day whilst i was driving!!! I had put the lock down but it doesn't have child locks. He's a right little !!!!!!. He had to go in a bed at 10 months because he could climb out of original cot and then travel cot. He has now also learnt how to open the safety gate. I'm tearing my hair out and waiting for the day when i have to take him back to A and E for his head glued. AGAIN!!!

  • LMAO - thanks for that. I've had a really rough day - lost my purse (AGAIN, I do it about once a month - i'm on first name terms with the card cancelling people); have got wikkid indigestion and am so tired i can't think straight and you made me laugh so much it scared the dog:D Thanks so much for that - I never thought of duck tape to prevent nappy removal - I do resort to press stud at the back all in ones at times, but actually using duck tape..that's absolutely brilliant:D

My littlie of 7 months has started pulling at his nappy straps and I laugh every time, thinking of my dear friend:D Must get stocked up!

Hope you have got cards sorted? Is that 'nappy brain'? If so I can soo relate to that-losing things all the time myself, and never the cheap things either.LOL

  • We had this problem with our daughter - houdini had nothing on her! In the end we had a piece of string n the car that we tied across the 2 shoulder straps just above the buckle..that did the job! I hated it as I thought it was dangerous if she needed to get out...but it was better than her getting out herself! We also had to attach a large piece of worktop to the bottom of her high chair to stop her humping it round the house! Ahhhhh happy days!
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

I had the same problem as Juicy-Tube. My DD would just un fasten the harness:eek: Nightmare!!

I ended up putting her car seat in the front passengers seat. She was happier cos she could see me all the time. And I could stop her from undoing her harness by distracting her. It all stopped after a few weeks and she now happily sits in the back strapped in no problems.

Sorry to say it as now doubt you've heard it countless times over a number of things but 'it's a phase'

    Dear Juicy Tube,

Rest assured it's not every child, my 4 year old was an angel, and i thought i was blessed. Then along came Joe ( i think Damien of 666 fame in disguise!!). Oh my God what a shock. Everyone loves him but everyone can't wait to get rid of him!!!

Oh Juicy_Tube I think I was born with nappy brain! My littlies now all pretty much sleep through, although my youngest likes a bottle at about 5 in the morning and is up and at 'em by 7am at the latest (5.30 was more common until recently) most of the time.
It's me - I am a complete clutter brain. If you give me one task at a time to do then I can do fine, but littlie rearing, being self employed, running a house and animals all at the same time requires the ability to be organised, and I find it sooooooo hard to be organised. I have a to do list, which I pretty much do, but all those filing and tidying and planning for the next day type stuff which efficient people do on here I absolutely baulk at. It's something that really irritates me about myself, unyet my brain seems to turn to cotton wool whenever I should be doing something organised to make my life easier.
I'm sure because I'm not organised I end up going to bed later than i should, which exacerbates nappy brain, but do feel as if i live in a perpetual "muddle through".
I am a failed fly lady, failed list maker, failed meal planner, failed budget maker (the only reason we're not up to our eyeballs in debt is because I am really frugal, so we normally spend less then I earn, but it's by default not design), failed de-clutterer...you name it, if it involves organisation then I am failed....sorry to run on, but it's something i've been bottling up for ages and your mention of nappy brain opened the flood gates, as it were - sorry.

Rainbowrisin your post has really made me laugh. It sounds just like a certain person i know. I am feeling really scatter brained at the mo as i'm onto my third glass of red wine. My littlies are with Grandma. Yippee!! Not that i don't love my boys, they are my world but it is nice just to relax and know i don't have to be up at least three times during the night!!
