really need some help with a plasma

Hi, Im not sure where to post this. We are desperate for some advice!

My father has a Panasonic plasma, its about 7 years old the model number is th-42pwd4

he has never ever had any problems with it but a couple of days ago the screen resolution changed from 16.4 ( i think) to 4.3 its alot smaller with two black bars either side

we have tried everything, taking all the scarts, plug ect out and checking them

to make matters worse he has also lost the remote control

when he plays the dvd player on its own it works fine, for some reason is will not show the sky picture on the RGB channel

is there any hope at all of getting this fixed??

thanks in advance for any advice whatsoever!

Without the remote he may be scuppered. Don't know if it'll work for him but if I use my Sky+ HD remote, I can alter the aspect ratio on my LG. I first press the TV button then the play button. That then cycles through the aspect ratios. The HELP button selects the inputs such as AV1, AV2 etc. The Sky box may need the video setting to RGB instead of PAL.

You have already posted this question on another forum and I supplied this answer

    Would this help you?

Page 22 et al tells you how to change the screen size.

If you need a replacement remote, the TV needs this one.

  • It's old, but a very very nice set, worth persevering with, however without a remote [ EUR646525 ] I can't see you going forward.

Here is the manual that he would have had when new.

Have you tried changing the aspect ratio by pressing the INPUT button on the front of the set to switch between component / RGB / PC / S-Video ?

    Did it work ?
