Parking in a disabled bay??

Options
I know this is nothing to do with moneysaving but I am desperate to vent my anger somewhere!!

To cut a long story short my neighbour across the road has a terminal illness, lovely man and its very very sad.

His next door neighbour is a complete pig and never respects his disabled bay and parks in it at any opportunity, even though his family have had a go many times.

Last week he took a sudden turn for the worse and has been admitted to a hospice, obviously wont be returning.... this was, disgustingly, to the joy of his neighbour who everyday since has parked in the disabled bay.

I understand that he is never coming home and will die very soon so no longer requires the space, but for god sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are many elderly residents in the road and other disabled users, parking is tight. I was told by a relative of mine that they were not allowed to park there still, as the bay is reserved for ANY blue badge holder and cant just be ignored just because the said gentleman is in a hospice...

I just feel saddened that a little more respect isnt shown

Things like this really annoy me, some people are so ignorant and have the 'I'm alright jack, sod the rest of you' attitude and have no respect for other people.

When I was rather ill a couple of years ago after I came out of hospital we had to get carers in 5 times a day and the district nurses came 3 times a day to give me my medication. The idiot who lived next door but 1 to us used to come out and leave notes on the cars of the carers and nurses asking them to park further down the street because they didn't like cars parked outside their house in case anyone came round to see them. This led to a pretty big argument between the 2 of us once I had recovered a bit and saw him for the first time after him doing this.

To be honest I find it so upsetting that rather than think about the pain his family are going through... their first thought was quick go move the car up!!

Maybe one day the roles will be reversed and he'll realise how inconsiderate he's been. Not that I wish illness on anyone though.

Ring the council and clarify the position and/or ask that they send a Traffic Warden round. It really bugs me that people park in disabled spaces at supermarkets etc.

So... because it doesnt have a sign and is just a disabled bay it is non enforceable...

Tbh it was more a case that I wanted to vent, peoples lack of caring and the desperation to be greedy that I find so disappointing

You say it has no sign, but it still may be enforceable, wouldn't hurt to speak with the council on the phone about it

Worth a try I guess, but checked the local council website and they state that if there are no parking signs on a metal post then it is not enforceable. I am going to contact them in the morning anyway

Ones round my area (mostly terraced with small front walls) have a post with a small (any i mean tiny) disabled sign and/or a larger sign attached to the wall of the house noting the space.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
