Thanks for clearing that up guys. I think it's obvious I don't understand computers at all. Will download that Open Office thing and I hope it works. Cheers.0

Download the Office 2010 trial. It will expire in October so that will give you 4 months free.

I have been using it for months now without any problems.

Or NHS and certain other government employees who can get office for about 10

I think the problem is this:
If you download a "trial" version of Office off the MS website, you still need the 25 digit code to get it to run. MS give you this when you download - no probs.
If you buy a PC with the "trial" already loaded you don't seem to be given the 25 digit number by the PC manufacturer - so you are "stuffed".
The code off the net doesn't work with the pre-loaded "trial" version either.
Solution is to uninstall the pre-loaded version then download the "trial" and use the code that comes with that.0 -

Not at the moment seems the agreement with Microsoft is yet to be agreedHome user programme
Thank you for trying to access the Home User Programme (HUP). We apologise but this service is currently unavailable to NHS employees in England. This is because the Enterprise licensing Agreement (EA) in place between NHS England and Microsoft has now expired and HUP was part of this software licensing agreement.
We are hoping to have further information on this agreement by the 15 June and will post all information on the NHS Resource Centre. We offer our sincere apologies for this inconvenience.
