I'm going to France this summer by car and need european breakdown cover.

Has anyone got any recommendations for the best comapny to choose or, alternativley, any comapnies to avoid.

Thanks

i use these guys who are great, european-breakdown-cover.com they use Green Flag for their european breakdown cover policies and the prices are between 40-50% cheaper than you would get from Green Flag, the AA and the RAC

We're going to France for 3 days this weekend so I was looking for the same thing myself. Found all the breakdown covers just for those days was almost as much as a year long policy. In the end I added the cover onto my insurance - £40 until November. I know it's more expensive than paying a bit more for a year, but we wanted the cheapest possible. Might be worth checking with your insurance?

I've gone with the Europ Assist £59 policy which is miles cheaper than any competitors. 12 months UK and Europe, including upto 90 days in Europe. They give all cover upto overnight accommodation costs, onward transport, etc.
The policy is vehicle specific and covers both you and a spouse.

Reading the review sites on the internet, there are positive and negative reviews for this company - and for all other companies too. On balance it appears slightly better rated, but the proof will come if we ever need to use it I suppose.
The trouble with review sites for anything is two types of people use them - the die-hard fans and the mega-critics who have had a bad experience and want to vent their spleen.

Moneysavingexperts??? Some of the advice here costs an arm and a leg!! Forget any of the big UK players (AA/RAC/Greenflag). I checked MSE and found pretty poor advice for cheap euro cover so I looked myself and the following seems damn cheap and seems to cover you for most breakdown scenarios:

    £25 for 9 days. Bargain!
