I have ubuntu on one laptop, but not this one.

This one has Mandriva linux on it.

Puppy I never particularly liked. But good if you need such a small distro. They've just updated it to be based on ubuntu for the first time, so may be better now. Have been meaning to DL and try.

PcLinuxoS is a fork/based on Mandriva, so I quite like that. Prefer the original Mandriva though if I'm honest.

Puppy is now based on Ubuntu  that's the end of me and puppy....Maybe I should get a new live disk of PCLinuxOS though...i read about Ubuntu in the days they were sending out free disks and thought it was a tad socialist/communist - then it was an issue over GUI (not a GNOME fan) and being up all weekend trying to get my router sorted and like well...I like PCLinuxOS but I appreciate your fondness for Mandriva...:D

What's happening, have I missed something (sorry)? Are you ok/I hope you're ok? :o
Yup I'm fine, Lord Hooray wanted to sit out in the garden and needed a hand to get there, poor old booger looks shocking. He still managed a couple of glasses of wine, Handy got invited to stay for a dramm or 2. It will be a bit up and down for a while until things settle down.

So handy now becomes Handyman / Gardener / Driver / PA / Carer and !!! wipe when it suits. Musnt Grumble.

So you have your resolution set at 768x then? Are you needing everything to be so zoomed in or is it cos you've not been able to sort a good view? You should play with the resolution prior to using any zoom facilities as the res may actually make things bigger automatically for you, for instance a higher resolution makes things smaller but a good one to use is usually 1024x768 - is yours set back to front with 768 as the first numbers? :o

My resolution is automatically set at 1024x768, but on that i still had to scroll the page so i just copied the image and then resized it. Is it imperative that we all have the exact same size?.

Is it safe to come out and play yet??

    Is all the gobbledegook finished?

Are we talking in English again?

Yes? ah good - I got a bit scared for a moment or two with all that techie stuff - nice and warm and safe feeling now love0085.gif

Thread is back to normal folks :j :j

Edit: O.K. Screen resolutions I can cope with - just checked and mine is set at recommended 1366 x 768 on widescreen laptop - is this OK - I don't seem to have any problems viewing the image

I think I'll wait until I can understand what's going on before I crawl out from under the duvet!

Resolution I could handle but anything after that I didn't get I'm 'fraid! Entertaining to read though I'll say! :D might learn some lingo and chat to the SuperTech folk at work tomorrow! :D

This is what my resolution thing looks like, i didnt alter the settings on it at all, i did play around with the zoom on my screen but that made things small, so i put that back to how it was.
