Where does your "friend" live Ames?

Everywhere has it's good and not so good areas and there are of course certain places where you shouldn't even consider but the areas you were looking at are not known to be bad areas. I've got 2 cousins who live in south norwood and they haven't had any problems in all the years they have been there. There are some nice places there and it's also on the doorstep for where she works and not too far from the centre of things.

'friend' lives in the nice end of Croydon (west, I think). She automatically discounted some areas and we've just realised from talking to other people that it's because they're not exclusively 'white' areas. She told me there was loads of gun crime in the areas we looked at on Monday!

We really liked Norwood, we got there early and went for something to eat, it was perfect, everything on the doorstep. Then the letting agent didn't turn up and we found out the flat had gone, grr.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

No area in London is exclusively 'white' but that doesn't mean it's bad.

There have been gun problems in that area but so has there in other places like peckham, brixton, streatham to name but a few. I live near the elephant & castle and that has it's problems dating way back but if you stay away from known hotspots and keep yourself to yourself, it won't be any worse than anywhere else. Where I live it's quite nice, there are a few problem estates but you just don't go there.

 to letting agents - hope she finds somewhere suitable. Where does she live at the moment? Sorry being really nosey and probably boring the pants off everone else:o

I remember well driving through Snowdonia, looking for Trawsfynned power station. Got to a place called Dan Ger Gos Low. I spent half an hour looking for it on my map before I realised it was an old sign that actually said Danger Go Slow. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Silly handy.:)

Cheers all, back in a bit.

    Brilliant Handy - you had me suckered in :T :T :T :T :T :T

She's living with dad in Scarborough for a few weeks between her last tenancy ending and her job starting on 31st August.

Where I live in Leeds has a bad reputation, and had a bit of gun crime just before I moved here, but as someone said to me, it's just certain parts and between criminals - no innocent bystanders were caught up in it. So it's easy to keep your head down and stay out of the way.

To gym or not to gym that is the question??
Anyone put together a good argument for me going?

Bl - not boring people at all. Its always good to have other people's points of view when moving to a new area. I have no plans for a move to the city (or anywhere) but I'd certainly make use of anyone's opinions if I was. And it sounds like you could be more use in giving advice to Ames' sister than 'friend', or at least give a second opinion.

Now is that I should go to the gym so I can eat cakes - or just a suggestion that I go home and eat cakes instead?? (fingers crossed:D)
