Barclaycard Freedom Points: Easy to Collect, Impossible to Spend

So Barclaycard have a nice little cash back type scheme, called Freedom with nice logos and colours. There are already numerous places where you can easily earn points and get a warm feeling inside...except there's nowhere to spend the points! That little drawback of the scheme makes it quite pointless. I have got £100 of these points and there's nowhere to spend them!
I email the Barclaycard customer service people and keep getting Kafka-esque replies about where to spend the points, it's quite ridiculous. So there we are.
If anyone knows of anywhere that redeems these things let me know because I'm going to get £100 worth of whatever it is that they sell.

I agree with what you say as I can not find anywhere to spend this freedom cash.
The fact that there have been no replies to your post to say where you can spent them kind of proves the point.Regards

how have u got £100 worth lol0

yep in the same boat, when it was first introduced I was sent a letter with a little map with 12 points on it showing where I can earn the freedom cash, I phoned and asked (3 time now in total) where I can redeem them - I was told a follow up letter would come once the scheme was underway - still nothin0

I have a friend who works at Flight Centre, you can use your points towards holidays/flights booked through them.
Sadly it seems the Freedom reward system is pretty weak most of my disposable income goes to Play.com, Amazon or GAME - none of whom are on board. Not to mention a lack of supermarket chains. Amazed that the OP has managed to get £100 worth of rewards. I have to work very hard to find anywhere to earn points and I live in central London!0 -

My local butchers will take them, you anywhere near derby?
:rotfl:
Seriously though, you need to find a business that uses the barclay chip and pin terminal and is signed up to the rewards thing.... buy your gear and when it comes to pay you'll have an option to use your reward points before you type in your pin"I don't want to sound cold and un-caring, but I am those things so that's the way it comes out" - Bill Hicks0 -
Like you guys on here I have a decent balance - £300 now and cant redeem the points anywhere - unless flight centre or goldsmiths!
When they signed up House of Fraser just before Christmas I never even had a prompt on the chip n pin devices so I complained...Got a letter yesterday saying what a great service and sorry but we are not going to do anything. Login now to see who are Earn Only retailers (about 95%) and who can you redeem with (5%)...Terrible scheme and would recommend anyone against it...if you need a new credit card DO NOT use the Rewards scheme as a consideration.0 -
I used it as a consideration because you can collect points at shell... but you can't redeem them there =/ or anywhere as it seems!0

Pizza express! I get loads through Shell, using so much overpriced petrol for work gets a free meal out once in a while. Used with an Orange Wednesday code too makes for a cheap evening0

I had a Leeds Bldg Soc. Credit Card - originally Morgan Stanley, then Goldfish - now Barclaycard Gold. I used to get a discount of the bill - was 1% at one time, then 0.5%, now nothing - only Freedom rewards at some retailers.
I've not used it since, use my Tesco Cr.C/card - at least that way I'll get extra points for each transaction.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Such a shame..... this was quite a good card when it gave you cash every month..... rubbish now..... they say the card has additional features..... surely thats a lie...lol... oh well, back to tesco credit card until my mbna card arrives!Titch0
