I think its a daft rule. 1st of all they werent all drinking, 2nd its stopping the majority just to look after the minority. If a family did go in and get sloshed with young kids they could stop serving them whenever they like. Its their pub they dont have to serve who they dont want to. And only making the child get a meal isnt stopping the parents from drinking is it.
The cheap drinks are normally on ales i thought, not sort of drink the "chavs" normally have.

Im not a big fan of weatherspoons anymore. Food is appalling and I dont find the staff that friendly near me.

Also the post about drinking at 9am. Remember it could have been a shift worker who wanted a pint or 2 before he goes home to bed
That's an excellent point. So we can thus deduce that the policy is simply so staff do not have to think for themselves, and can just say 'company policy' rather than explaining the legalities to people they kick out.

I'm reassured to see that the genre of people in Wethers is not just constrained to my local one (well, 2 actually!).

dear tim, you need to sort out the loo's first- A DISGRACE!!

Interesting you should say that! A few years ago, they used to win awards for their loos (apparently!)

I am sure they have had other "awards" for their loos as well over the years.

I just fine it bizarre that a pub can have a "best loo" award!! Surely ALL pub loos should be up to this sort of standard really!! (Although we all know they aren't, and probably never will be!)

I think you may of all misunderstood our reason for having a drink in the pub. I had just got married and the pub was very close to the registry office, and as we had an hour to kill until the restaurant was booked, we went in for a drink. Not to get 'sloshed' as people may think..... merely to spend time with some friends and my family in a lovely beer garden and a half of lager.

Dont get me wrong, I definitely would understand if it were a friday/saturday night. But it was a Wednesday lunchtime during half term, what the hell do they expect, of course people are going to have their kids with them. And the fact that we went a bit further into the town, found a nice Shepherd Neame pub and the landlady was most accomodating to me and my family. Its just Wetherspoons being difficult.

I remember a time when pub chains such as Wetherspoons were all up for promoting their "family" image..... now its just all full of old men who drink from the moment the place opens.

Saw a wonderful example of parenting the other day, the dad left his daughter outside whilst he went and spent time in the bookies...

I saw the same but they had left their young lad outside.

So using the logic as above, should we say if you have a child you shouldnt be allowed to gamble?

That's not the point of the example given by xxMessedUpxx!

Rather, if you have a child WITH YOU you shouldn't be allowed to gamble (as in bookies gambling, not as in buying your lottery ticket obviously). The child was left outside alone. Parenting fail times 2!
