This forum is a waste of time, all you people do is tear people to shreds when they are looking for help.

How about if you all start to think about the people that need your help, rather than having a laugh at their suffering.

There are far too many people here who probably couldn't get into the legal profession, so they trawl the net and post obscure case law. The facts are most consumer issues can be easily sorted with a bit of discussion and they rarely end up in the courts.

So how about you all stop the nastiness and start helping people.

    I don't think that's the issue here.

I think the problem is that many people come here looking for advice or an opinion, only to be told that they are the ones in the wrong or be told something that they don't want to hear. That's usually the point when people start getting extremely defensive.

Just look at the various "I want to cancel my gym contract" threads - plenty of examples in there.

Zandoni. I suggest you take the time to read through a few, nay, a lot more threads on this forum. You will then notice that the vast majority of people offer support and help on all sorts of issues with kindness, compassion and incredible care and thought. It still amazes me to be honest, people are generally very kind. There will always be a few rogue elements as in any collective, but take some time and read these threads, you will be pleasantly surprised.

You should have done that before you posted this really.Incredibly niaive.

its not everyone who tear people to shreads, there are a vast majority of people who do offer advice etc and there are some who do tear people to shreads so maybe they are bored. Some of the questions that get posted on here are pretty slef explanatory. There are also users wh post a questin and dont like the answers given when they are helpful

The thing which has struck me about your posts is that you seem to advocate consumer goodwill rather than consumer rights. Whilst I am sure 99% of people on this forum would agree with your position that the customer should be treated fairly etc. ultimately it is the law that provides clarity on consumer rights.

By the way, are you in the legal profession yourself? Most of the cases and law spouted here you would cover in a very basic legal course (I certainly did in the law element of my business degree and then accountancy training).

The issue is there is too much wishful thinking in the realm of consumer rights. Most of the legislation is there to protect the retailers and it's a handful of big companies policies (Tesco, M&S etc) that like to make us think we have a lot more power than we actually do.

Sorry if that sounds harsh! Stick around, there are some very helpful and knowledgable people on this board.

That and people who post only to tell someone, that in the middle of describing how they have been pinned against a wall by a company, have no money and are extremely worried, that they dared to make a spelling error.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

More like a lot of people don't like the answers they get and then throw tantrums at the people trying to give them advice!

What a pointless thread this is! I've got a good mind to tear it to shreds!

You do not give examples, but in my experience it would take someone with some legal knowledge to understand obscure case law.

Sometimes people will post a perfectly composed reply and it'll be taken the wrong way and seen as an attack on the OP. As others have said, some people just can't handle the truth.

no matter how obscure the case law is, it's still law.
