HD TV without sky subscription?

Hi All,

I bought a HD TV recently. I want to know if I can buy a Sky HD box (or receiver) from ebay/gumtree and use it to get HD content? I am not a Sky subscriber and dont want to spend money on subscription. I saw Sky HD boxes on gumtree ranging from £60 to £100.

Thanks
Vikram

No, but you can buy a Freesat HD box and get Freesat HD subscription free.
If you already have a Sky dish with a twin feed from the LNB then this is a straight box swap.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

You can get Freeview HD boxes now which will connect to your aerial without the need of a dish.I'm sure the one I looked at in Tesco was £90.No idea what channels you can get though, although I think ITV isn't available until October.

Thanks for the reply to everyone.

The TV that I bought (LG 32H3000) has a free view tuner in it, but not sure if it is a HD tuner. I will try to figure that out.

    Thanks

It is not HD, just standard Freeview and and analogue tuners.
