Hi, hope someone can help
I seem to have sent a 'buy Viagra' email to everyone I have ever sent an email too over the years, including my dad, brother, son and hubby..who asked if I was trying to tell him something:eek::rotfl::o
Will it happen again? can I stop it?

first thing change the password on your hotmail account ..Looks like it has been hacked.

also time for a virus scan just to see if you have anything on your PC key logger kind of thing.

So your Hotmail account has been compromissed. Did you have a simple password?
You probably can't access now yourself but, if you can, change the password to something more difficult.

I have run Avira anti virus and it didn't find anything, and I can still access it, but good idea to change the password. Didn't think of that.
I have set up a googlemail account now too.
The password was not a simple one I think but you never know.
Will try Malaware scan too now.

Happened to me and to someone else I know, and I've seen at least 3 or 4 reports of same here.

I suspect an inside job at Microsoft, myself - in my case, all it did was e-mail my 2 contacts - one of which was my 'other' hotmail address, the other my own address again.

I changed my password to something more complicated, and I haven't been troubled again. Someone else didn't change their password, and they've had a second round of e-mails passed off as theirs.

Longer/stronger password as the first step.... and don't store 'Contacts' in Hotmail, as it seems that the e-mails get sent out to these, rather than other addresses in your inbox or outbox

This happened to me as well about 2 years ago. Someone hacked into my account and sent emails about electronic products to all my contacts and everyone I'd ever emailed.

I contacted Microsoft and they said to always make sure you log out of your email account - I must admit I tended to log in and just leave my email open. Now I log in, read emails and log out pronto. I also changed my password to a stronger one. It's been ok since.

Make sure you have the most updated version and definitions - and please post a log on here too. If you haven't updated follow instructions below. Also run a hijackthislog.

    Instructions below by alienRIK:

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD THIS VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/2894/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
