First Bank Direct £25 Offer

Following the Jeremy Vine programme I have tried to enter the site of First Bank Direct to open an account all I get is a message saying Connection refused when attempting to contact nwserver.firstdirect.com Do you think this could be anything to do with the fact that Martin has made people aware of the chance to make £25 for nothing?

It may be a result of heavy traffic to the site, but I don't think it's First Direct stopping you on purpose.
They want people to join as they hope that even if MSErs cut and run with the cash, the majority of punters will be too apathetic to cancel the account.I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0 -
I think its more liable to be a problem with the site itself. Mind you i did log in earlier and it was working ok for me. If you dont get through, there is another way you can be introduced. I can refer you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I too was trying to get in during the radio show..
It seems they must have been listening also. The upfront T&C now say..

the £25 incentive will only be paid to new customers who have not previously held an account with first direct and hold a minimum credit balance of £100 for 30 days within 3 months of joining

Still, it's a 25% profit, so I still can't complain...0 -
Martin has up-dated the article on this, it seems telling 3 million people at once was a bit too much for First Direct. I am presuming that the need for £100 will only apply to new customers, we have already signed up so the £25 will hopefully be added to our £1. If not we might just have to close our account ;D
Mind even if you have to put £100 in for a month, I agree with the last post....Not a bad rate of interest

I have a leaflet which fell out of a "Boots Advantage" Magazine, which offers £35 cash if your open their current account. It says you can 'phone them up to apply, or 'phone them to get an application form.0

My spouse got a letter today inviting her to open an account and she would get £25 looks like "no strings" is she wasting her time sending it back.A wise man changes his mind, a fool never will.
