have you tried turning your broadband router off for a few minutes , they do lock up
if not try system restore on the laptop to go back to when it last worked
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084
that is for XP but more or less the same on Vista or Win 7Ex forum ambassador

i have just been on to control panel and systems and security and it is showing that windows update is not working neither is network firewall switched on when i click on the icon to turn it on it says action centre cant turn on windows firewall and there is a button to do it manually, do you think this could be connected to my problem or is this just an additional one. I am not sure how to turn on manually0

I'm wondering if theres a virus infection on there
connect the laptop direct to the wireless router by using a cable then download this
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
install it and update it , then run a full scan
when it finishes it will produce a log file , copy and paste it into a reply here
this is how to cut and paste

What make of laptop is it?
I have a Sony Vaio which occasionally does this after installing a programme or software - if it is indeed a Sony, it is easily rectified if it is the same problem.0 -
Hi, have you tried right click on your wireless connection in your tool bar,and the repair? Or goto your start menu, click run and type services.msc then ok. look on list for wireless zero config and make sure it says started, if not right click and press start. this may work. otherwise i'd contact my provider.0

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas or if you could tell me would it be covered by the warranty it is less than 6 months old or is it considered a software problem???0
