Tomato leaves often curl and there's nothing much to worry about. If it continues then perhaps post a piccie but I wouldn't worry too much at the moment. (NB You didn't plant them with any manure did you?)0

Mine are curly at the top too, alicante and they are on their second set of flowers but not a bee in sight, although there are 5 hives within 150 yards0

My Gardener`s Delight , planted in grow bags in the green house are a little curly.
Was not at all worried until I read your posting . Please think of others before starting a scare story!!

Someone posted the same question last week and the response was that this happens when it is hot - as it is at the moment.
Also, bees aren't needed to pollinate tomatoes - any bugs can do it, or wind. we had tomatoes in our flat, one year I dabbed them all with paintbrushes but the next year i didn't bother and we still had lots of fruit.0 -
If they're in a greenhouse, where insects might not get to them so easily, all you have to do is make sure you give the supports (i.e. canes / string) a tap every time you go in. This dislodges pollen and is normally enough to ensure pollination.

I bet my tomatoes are curlier than yours. I was really worried about them, but they are starting to show fruit. Incidentally, the ones I have outside aren't curled at all. Just frost and wind-damaged. :wall:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Yep, we are also growing Gardener's Delight. We have eight of them, three outside and five indoors. The indoor ones keep getting very curly leaves, on the hottest days, and after reading the last thread on this subject I haven't been concerned about them. They're still doing extremely well - not showing any signs of flowering yet, but looking v. healthy."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Why does this matter please as some of mine went into a patch with chicken manure in it?0 -

There's been a herbicide contamination in manure, it's called aminopyralid and a way of telling is that the plants go funny at the top.
So if the OP did plant on manure and recently, contamination would be likely.0 -
Thanks for that, I think I can remember reading that on here a bit ago actually come to think of it. Incidently all the toms in that patch are fine. On another patch that is just soil again all are ok except the one on the end which has all its leaves curled and seems to have lost its hairs. It kinda looks more like a curled up pepper plant than a tom, but it's definatley a gardeners delight. It is also on the end that gets the most shade. All have been water the same so I don't know what has happened to that one.0
