Thinking of trading in your old tv for a Sony at Currys..think again, they lost mine!

Everything seemed rather well in your letter until this moment:
Its BOUGHT! Does my head in when people say brought.
Rant over!
Lots of people make this mistake - and a lot more people are quick and rude) enough to draw attention to it. LOTS of things annoy me but I don't feel I need to nag others about it.
Not everyone is perfect at spelling - unfortunately school teachers are frowned on if they draw attention to spelling errors (in case it upsets the little darlings who are far too sensitive to be corrected). Also, a fair number of teachers have low spelling abilities/standards themselves and may well not recognise a mistake when they see one (because their teachers didn't correct them either).
Spelling mistakes can be irritating - but people on here don't come for a spelling lesson! The OP needs to re-do his draft letter anyway and hopefully run a spell check on the final copy.ELITE 5:2

I can not see a problem with the length of the letter as it looks like it was a long and drawn out process. For the Welsh comment it is always nice to speak to someone from the same place as yourself especially if you are away from home.
As for wanting the TV returned or £100 discount I think the OP it totally correct. If Currys have not fulfilled their contract with the OP, by delivering the incorrect TV, then the OP has the right to cancel the contract and get a full refund. That refund should either be the full price of the new TV, including the discount, or the price of the new TV minus the discount and their old TV back. Either way the OP would not be in a worse off position than they started out. It is Currys problem if they have lost the TV not the OPs.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -

That's the biggest load of rubbish I've read all year!0 -
Txjockey I like your letter it explains exactly what happened clearly. I think they should compensate you for the loss of your TV but only market value to be honest.
I don't really think that the staff at Curry's are particularly bright so there's no wonder they haven't been able to sort out the mess they've caused by first of all selling you a TV that didn't match the spec and then by losing your old TV.
Good luck - let us know what happens and ignore the few muppets you've attracted.0 -

Your comment makes no sense. You state how a fair number (your words) have low spelling abilities/standards because their teachers didn't correct them. Well, in that case we should be correcting poor spelling etc. Because if no-one corrects the spelling mistakes then it just carries on down the line.
I was taught how to spell, read and write. Hopefully, my girls can spell, read and write(youngest one just about to commence a teaching career). Why should we accept poor spelling just because those that can't, don't like it?0 -
This thread is not about spelling, indeed some people cannot read or write due to having dyslexia or a wide range of other inabilities, if you don't like the fact there are grammatical flaws in the thread, maybe its better to find a thread that is word perfect to offer advice on, rather than choosing to dictate to others, simply because you have nothing more constructive to offer the OP other than your ability to spell.
If grammatical errors bother you THIS much, maybe you should choose a career in teaching those more interested in learning how to read and write, instead of limiting yourself to nit picking at those who can't.
As far as I am aware, misspelling, is not a crime and (as has been proved in this thread), being such a perfectionist at grammar, does nothing to stop the diarrhea that emanates from your opinion of it.
I used to teach reading and writing to adults, with problems ranging from dyslexia to dysgraphia, it is hard enough for people with these problems to get on in life as it is, the last thing they need is to be belittled or embarrassed even more by bigots, or ridiculed by insensitive "I'm better than you, so there!" boasters.
Hopefully your youngest knows more about teaching than preaching, something I think you need to educate yourself on.
Now kindly re-read the rules on MSE etiquette (I assume you can read) and keep this thread relevant to the topic.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

That's one of the worst letters I've ever read!
Babbling on about "he was a fellow Welshman" blah blah blah!
This is meant to be an official-sounding complaint to a national company for crying out loud does the world "concise" mean anything to you!
I'm surprised you didn't include your holiday plans for this year!

As I understand it, the OP doesn't want the money twice - he either wants the original deal (£100 off a tv) or his old tv back. He certainly shouldn't be fobbed off with some other old telly that he will have no idea if it works or not.
I think the problem will be that it is Sony who are funding the £100 off promotion. Regrdless, Currys should take the loss and give you £100 or offer £100 in vouchers which will actually cost them less.0 -

The OP really needs to clarify.
What is the price of the Sony before the offer? What is the price of his Samsung.
My reading is that he simply swapped the TV's round therefore its probably the case that Curry's are now swallowing the £100 discount.0
