Mess up with Orange Magic Number - £1500 bill!

Hi,

My friend registered my phone number through the orange magic number promotion so we could talk regularly on the cheap. However, the guy at the Indian call centre incorrectly entered it (our view) and my friend has now received a bill for £1500. Orange said they would contact my friend to discuss but never did. Has this ever happened to anybody else? Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks.

It may sound like I'm heartless, but when I was with Orange, for each applied magic number, you get a confirmation text, so if your friend didn't get the text then the number was more than likely not applied to the account.
Seems a huge amount though for a bill through just voice calls, the magic number is for 60 mins , so even every waking hour of the month , even for the month of May at 20p/min gives a bill of £4500 roughly, don't you guys sleep or work? Cos that figure suggests you are contantly on the phone :o

Haha, that's fair enough. It's a 'romance' thing.

    Cheers for clearing it up.

Well there is no price for love, if the new flame is gobbling up my text allowance then I just go and see them, at £1500 bills, you may as wellget a place together ;)

Possibly a bit heartless, because if this was the first magic number, how would the OP know that they should have received a text to tell them?

By the same way they learn about the magic Number, I left Orange over 2yrs ago and still get texts from they announcing I can add another magic number
That said, with some many opportunities and options to keep an eye on usage , there should be no reason for being surprised when the bill finally arrives, in any sob story post, prevention is always better than cure. Use it pay for it, end of ;)
