Hello! I work shifts as well. They suck don't they!
Take a look at the old style board for recipe ideas. But cooking in bulk and meal planning you should get your food budget down considerably.
One way I have cut down on the number of expensive snacks that I buy, is by putting a big tupperware box in my boot and filling it with cereal bars and cartons of orange juice. Anytime I want a snack I grab one from boot of car, or once I get to work I get out what I need for the day. Saves me forgetting when I rush out the door in the morning. I also have a commuter cup for coffee.
Good luck with being DF.0 -
I personally agree with Calley on this one ( not continuing the argument LOL)
I think its fair to say that you have got into this state by overspending and living WAY beyond your means. I did too.
Bear this in mind. Im paying off my debt at the min of 400 a month. Plus overpayments from making money on ebay etc. The more I "suffer" now, the quicker I will be 400 richer a month.
I wont know what to do with all that money, I sid to OH we can go to paris once a month on that forever, or every 3 months we can go to the carribbean. It really depends what your priorities are. If you want to get out of debt faster, up your payments make as much money as you can and GO FOR IT, Im impatient, I want the debt gone and pronto.
I liken it to a diet. Personally if i was going to go on a diet, Id go for Atkins, suffering yes, but results quicker- yes. I cant do weightwatchers, as all those "treats" your allowed would make me fall off the path.
Some people ike will want to find a happy medium, this is fine too, no way is better than another, but somethings suit different people in different ways. Personally, when I started I loved finding all the savings, and chucking them off my debt, and the joy of phoning the CC companies and closing cards to me cant be beaten ( especially when they start upping limits to try and keep you traped- er no thanks! ) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Thanks everyone! I did the weekly food shop, bought enough to last about 2 weeks (except for the fresh milk and veg that I'll have to stock up on) and it cost £50.15. Not amazingly good I know, but not bad for me!
Thanks for all your tips. I got paid today and am looking at all the figures again tomorrow. Joy!

A while back we had a lodger in a box room. It was a lady who just wanted somewhere cheap to stay monday to thurdsay night as she went home for the weekend. It worked really well until we had a baby who needed the room....the baby didn't even pay rent!
Edited to say this was in answer to posting #39 (thought i'd got to the last page and was just following on, sorry!)January budget
