good grief.
Budget well and truly blown. Did you see the flames and smoke and shooting fireworky things from where you are?
Just gonna do as well as I can for the rest of the month and then have a good hard think about things for next.
Total to date - £280.95 - and two more weeks to go.
And I can tell you a secret, this week has already cost £61.64:eek:"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
The first week was a bit:eek: But i did get a lot on reduced, which i'm still eating . I've been shopping 3 times this month. Will have to go again tomorrow as i'm out of cat food( i've got a few tins of cheap tuna for the morning).
I'm loving the 46p assorted crisps from tesco, the onion rings are the best i've had since i was a kid:smileyhea .Total debt £100.942
Mortgage £85,400 was £87000
Car £6648 was £8016
Loan £2928 was £4392
Major works £5966 was £75440 -
So I've just worked out my spend for September and its looking ok. My budget had been £350 but we need to rein this in a lot.
Its looking like we can keep it to £300 which is good since I haven't been trying too hard.
Hopefully next month will be better!
I'd like to keep it to a total of £300 and since every 2 months I do a £100 shop at Costco this averages £50 a month. This has to come out of the £300 so that leaves £250 for shopping at Asda i.e. just over £60 a week.
Think I will see how this goes for October.
I bought a few little kids pressies and some cards, I could have made the cards easily, just didn't find time, so that is one saving. Plus I am going to cancel some veg deliveries and see if we spend less.Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

I think I'm going to do it and stay within my £200 budget for this month. I've only got £3.74 left to spend but my month is up on Sunday as payday is on Monday. I'm really chuffed with myself and I'm hoping to drop the budget by £10 next month so I'll only spend £190.
I definitely cook more creatively when I've got no money. Last night we had a veggie lasagne with green lentils and loads of tomatoes I was given at the weekend. It was delicious even if I do say so myself - it must have been as DS (aged 3) ate all of his and then nicked some more from daddy's plate!
Reading everyone's posts has really inspired me and helped me to stick to my budget. Thanks guys!0 -
I can't believe how well I am doing
My freezer is full, all I am buying is bread/milk, fresh veggies.
Did just purchase 48 pouches of whiskars for the mews, but they worked out @ 20p a pack, they are sooooo fussy, I've tried them on other brands, but no, they just Mew all day! Any one want a couple of cats:rotfl: only joking, I think I love them more than DH!
I have been checking the Tesco misprice area before I go shopping, as you can tell by my Sig!
I spend Sundays, planning meals, making batches and freezing.
I am soooo happy I found this site, the way things are going, I may well be able to become a full time mum instead of going back to work at the end of my Maternity leave, DH is loving the new "domesticated" me!Sig ah Sig Ahhh0 -
well done with the ciggies. I gave up just over 2 years ago and was the best thing I ever did.
I am joining the challenge albeit a wee bitty late. I am doing the storecupboard challenge and want to reduce my shopping for the month to £150.00. I am really rubbish at budgeting so I will find this difficult. Take today for instance. I had a tin of spaghetti with me for lunch along with a packet of cheap biccies and a yogurt but hey what did I do?? had a roll and sausage for brekkie, chips and gavy and bar of choccie for lunch all from canteen. Spent £2.37. AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
£10.00 left till I hit my months budget of £300.00 for two adults, two kids , dog and fish (not that fish cost much really). I was very pleased but to even out the savings , took dog to vet with a problem with one of her claws and ended up with a bill for £166.00!
Don't get me wrong , the dog has been with us for a long time, dont begrudge her being looked after but thought 30.00 for two bandages was a bit steep (and that's before VAT), no I haven't got pet insurance as by time I was able to afford it dog was too old. I think we are 'hoodwinked' by some professions as they know we have to take their word for it, often feel this way about garages too.
So budget will have to be MUCH tighter next month as I have parents Diamond Wedding do to contribute to, dont get me wrong , I dont begrudge them having a do, they've been with us a long time
Hey ho, soon be Christmas:beer:0 -
I haven't kept a track of spending but have only bought fresh stuff (fruit, veg and milk) since begining of month. The aim is to eat the freezer empty as it's full of stuff which needs used up - last night dug out some delicious calves liver which got flash fried tonight. Had lambs liver on Monday and Tuesday.. got chicken livers to go!!
Trying to use up pasta and rice too. I'm loving using up stuff - the other day I used the last of a bottle of shampoo and almost :j at the sheer newness of the feeling! :rotfl:
Maybe I need to start a record from 01 October so I can see tangible results.0 -
£47 this month so far. Might need to get some fruit at the weekend and that will all.
So fingers crossed just a smidge over £50.
