You will probably find your gas disconnected and a bill for refixing your meter if you do that.

Actually, fingers crossed, this is all going to be sorted soon. Out of the blue NG got in touch and said they had changed policy, and would now do the job without charging for the non-existent excavation.

I have now paid, and am waiting for an engineer to come out. Not ready to commit yet and say it is ok - but hoping!

So - looks like I will have to withdraw any negative comments about NG!! They have resolved their initial silly issue, and have now sent a person to look at the job (about 5 days into the 20 they said it may take) and have agreed it is a simple job, that they will be able to do in the next 3-4 weeks. Which means we can move back into our house on time.

We were getting close to a situation where the renovation would be complete, and we wouldn't be able to move back due to no hot water.

So am pretty pleased in the end, and if it means they have changed the system a little, then even better for people in the same situation in future!
