Hi all!
I have managed to buy this mixer for £30:
I really like it but as you can see the paint is now looking a bit tatty on the bottom... So, my question is, has anyone successfully painted their Kenwood Chef or know of someone that has? If so, how did you go about it?
I've not got a clue where to start! ESP and International Floor Paint perhaps?

Personally I'd leave well alone. I don't think anything you paint on there is going to go well with the original paintwork and it could end up looking worse.
Why not make a cover for it instead? My mum made me one out of fabric that I had for curtains in the kitchen.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

If only I could sew!
Perhaps I can find someone online I can talk to nicely... !0 -
Sadly I quite agree. I can pretty much have a go at most things but sewing and knitting are no no's for me! Thankfully I have my mum to do things like this for me!!!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

You can buy covers from ebay for around £10 I think. They are handmade and available in all lots of lovely colours and different fabrics.
I have the same Kenwood Chef as you - and it is brilliant. I use it everyday and especially love the blender attachment.0 -
There's a company that restores them so there's obviously some sort of paint that's suitable. (Google "kenwood chef restoration")
I wonder if you could use appliance paint (the stuff B&Q sell for fridges etc) or car paint. I'd love to paint mine, it was sitting near a window for a while and the sun has turned one corner yellow.0 -

Not sure about painting it, but maybe you could try those sticky decals you can get for laptops and ipods
You could trim them and bring the design up from the bottom
Do post a photo when you've pimped it!:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
I know this thread is old, but just wanted to add my thoughts. You can get them powder coated - a company near me will do it for about £30 (although you have to strip it down yourself - fortunately I am electrically minded and can do this).
Did you ever paint yours Kevie? We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

I've got one which I bought for £20 at a summer fair. The paint has a few chips and, like you, I'm thinking of a respray. It will be easiest if the entire body is repainted, so that you don't face a matching problem between old and new versions of white. Not all whites are the same! I'll just rub it down and use some primer and top coat, sprayed on for sure. A brushed finish would look awful.0
