If you have two paypal accounts you still have to nominate one for ebay, and run into the problem of charges again as you would need to use the premier one and therefore pay fees.

I do also have a basic paypal account but only to accept my Quidco payments and both my accounts have completely different bank details.

Yes but at least if you have a basic account & a premier account you can assign any non ebay related payments to the basic one(like you have done for quidco) so that you are not getting charged a percentage fee for them as well.

The answer is add the Paypal fee to your postage and packing costs. That way you don't lose out!

  • As i sell quite a bit every week, i dont mind Paypal charges, means i dont have to go the bank, check my online banking, hand out details, email buyers etc. Its a great time saver. Plus the fees go down if you sell quite a bit (and wrongly sometimes, im on 2.3% when it should only be the one down from the 3.4%!)

No you can't, or at least not easily. When you list your item you are asked to nominate a paypal account, just one. If you put the premier one then you will pay charges on everything, if you put the basic one you will get an upgrade prompt on every payment that is sent via card or by some bank transfers.

Assuming you put the basic one and intend refusing the payment and asking them to repay to the premier one if they pay by card, then you are setting yourself up for problems. I often buy an item and pay immediately, then don't bother logging into my buying account for a few days, or until I start worrying about the delay in receipt. You are assuming that buyers will a) be there to read your emails and B) be willing to repay you to a different account. Asking for payment to an account not specified in the invoice is a favourite trick of the scammers, they set up hijacked account and then divert the paypal payment, and I'm sure as a genuine seller you don't want to be thought of as crooked.

Are you saying that Quidco payments incur a charge? Quidco said this was the 'free' option so I was lulled into a false sense of security!

You can now get your Quidco payment by BACS, free of charge and quicker than paypoo.

BACSA payments for quidco are not free 5p charge each time.

    from website:
"We currently charge 5p for every monthly payment we make to you (not per individual transaction you make through quidco!) using BACS. This small charge helps to cover the costs of running BACS payments."
