Problems quitting the 3 network

Hi,
Has anyone else experienced problems tying to leave the 3 network.
I tried to quit the other day and was on the phone for 45mins. The sales rep would not let me cancel my contract despite me explaining that I wanted to leave and had already moved network to Vodafone.
Following this, I had to write to them to cancel my contract. Despite writing in plenty of time, 3 claimed that they had not received my letter in time so took another month's line rental out of my account.
I know phoen companies will do their best to stop you from leaving but this seems a bit over the top.
Thoughts?

You just have to keep saying PAC PAC PAC. I want to CANCEL.
Eventually they will get the message, eventually that is............0 -
3 have still not improved then.0

Ask for your PAC that's the best way to leave - port it to a payg sim as if its unused after 30 days your contract won't actually be cancelled by three!Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0

I know I'm the same - spent 30+ mins on the phone to them at the end of March trying to get my PAC ended up putting the phone down(after trying to end the conversation) as it was the end of my lunch! Bit the good thing was I used my PAC less than 24 hours later!Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
I left them when the iPhone 3G came out 2 years back. The guy in retentions was trying to tell me that the LG Viewty was a better phone as it had a "5 pixel" camera... <sigh>Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0

So far I have terminated 4 Three monthly contracts from family members and close friends.
Its very easy.
1 - tell them you want to leave by either cancelling the contact or requesting a PAC
2 - let the guy pitch his new deal for 5 minutes or until you get bored.
3 - read your terms and conditions to him (he'll try to talk over you all the time with new phones and more minutes) but keep at it. Say something like "you're giving your 1 month cancellation notice as required by your T&Cs" ask him to accept the 1 month notice and log your request for cancellation or a PAC.
4 - if you're not getting through tell him you are recording the call for your records.
Works a treat. Every time.
Let us know if it works0
