Hiya
We FTB's almost at the point of exchange, tomorrow we will be going round to check everything is still in order since we last viewed (3 months ago when we put our offer in!) and to do some measurements.
There was a really good thread on here before about things to ask the vendor about the property that you need to know once u move in but cant seem to find it!!
I want to write down a list of things to ask while we there, heres a list of what I can think of, any other suggestions would be much appreciated:

- Where are the gas/electric meters and stopcock
- Who are all the utilities with including phone line
- Dustbin removal/recycling days
- How to use the central heating

You've covered the basics I think. Just trying to remember what the buyers of our house asked us recently!
You could ask about keys to windown locks, alarm code (if they have one), do appliances still have instructions (we left all ours when we moved). Not really sure what else there is to cover.0 -
Just remember to take your own meter readings and ring all utility companies to inform them of the change over. Supply a forwarding address for the vendor. Bar that think u have it covered good luck0

Thanks for the replies everyone, but im so annoyed right now.
The vendors just cancelled the viewing even though I organised this on Tuesday, saying she cant do this weekend at all. Last weekend same story, she was going away for the bank holidays. My partner works away during the week, so we can only do this over the weekend. We want to view before exchange, which they expecting to happen sometime next week. My partner has missed out on stag weekend in Denmark so we could get this sorted, and on top of that we needed the measurements to get a bed, (double discount at Dreams! whoop whoop!
) which we were hoping to do this weekend.
Ive read a thread where sellers have said they would give their left kidney to please their buyers, I think we've tried to be as accommodating as possible, get things moving as quick as possible, etc. but I think it may be time to play hardball. I have made it clear to the EA that we wont exchange until we get a viewing. Maybe we should just do what ILW suggested.... :rotfl:0 -
i wouldn't be happy either
have you mentioned thsi to your solicitor as they may be able to help resolve.
make you wonder if they have something to hide?
we've been twice to measure up, first time hubby forgot to measure windows! numpty
so i couldnt start pricing up curatins....... 2010 challenges

Too early. You don't do this at exchange you do it at completion.Just remember to take your own meter readings and ring all utility companies to inform them of the change over. Your only leverage is to refuse to exchange until you have your viewing. Personally, I think it should be fairly compelling.livalicious wrote: »Thanks for the replies everyone, but im so annoyed right now.

Questions sound fine, but I'd think these are things you could ask after exchange (when vendor is more relaxed). After all, you won't pull out if the bin men come on Thurs rather than Weds, I guess!
Things to check before exchange are the type of points that might make you adjust your price, insist on a report or withdraw from the purchase.0
