i sent an email yesterday to mamas and papas about an enquiry for a new raincover for one of their strollers. i've bought the stroller second hand for £30, the rrp is (on special offer) just under £150. imagine my shock when i got the response £36.00 plus £4.95 p+p. is it just me or is this price scandalous?

You're telling me! All rainvcovers are extortionate prices. I have a Maclaren Quest and they wanted £30 + P&P after my raincover ripped even though it was only 6 weeks old. They aren't covered by the warranty either.0

Mamas and Papas are an expensive brand. Are you surprised that food costs more in Waitrose than it does in Aldi?0

All depends on the quality of the cover, just because you bought the unit secondhand for £30 doesnt mean any parts you buy for it so be proportional.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

Shouldn't it still be covered by SOGA? I'd have argued my case if it was only 6 weeks old. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Trust me, I did argue my case but the shop I purchased the buggy from refused to help. I even rang the manufacturer and they agreed with the shop. Thank god my youngest son has just about outgrown his buggy now. No more pushchairs for me!0

can you not get compatible covers any more? Been a while since my 2 were in prams but I bought my rain covers from Argos.0

In 1999 I purchased a new pushchair/pram convertible thing. It wasn't a top make, as I recall it was some maker with a sunshine on a navy blue background as thier logo. Can see it in my minds eye but not read the logo.
The manufacturers rain cover was going to cost me £38. I remember buying a generic one from Argos for £23.
So to be honest I'm amazed it's only that much. Did you try Argos or anywhere for a generic one?"I, on the other hand, am a fully rounded human being with a degree from the university of life, a diploma from the school of hard knocks, and three gold stars from the kindergarten of getting the sh*t kicked out of me." ~ Capt. I had a Maclaren buggy when my son was young, I'm going back to 1998 when I got it and there was a raincover provided with it - it was sort of a fitted thick sheet of plastic which clipped onto the hood and clipped again down by the front wheels. Anyway, it tore at the bottom where my son kicked at it when it was fitted and when I called to see if I could get a replacement I was sent one free of charge!0 -

Im ashamed to say I chopped DD's McLaren Buggy, complete with raincover in half because MIL kept taking her out to the shops in it when she stayed there and DD was 4 and a half at the time....
I'd asked her time and time again not to do it, but after driving past them in the village one morning I lost my temper, got a pair of scissors and cut the ruddy thing in half right through the rain cover and back down the seat while MIL stood there open mouthed0 -

4 and a half! That's really shocking. Sounds like something my Mom would do.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670
