Silly question I'm afraid... for anyone who's got one of these...
Does this take standard, freely available & cheap 50 black bin bags at 50 for £1 (Poundland), or do you need to buy Brabantia branded bin bags at £3.99 for 10 (or something like that)???

I've had a 50L brabantia for a couple of years (yes, paid over £100 FOR A BIN!!! but it looks fab) and we've always had to buy the brabantia bin bags as they're nice and strong for pulling out 50L of rubbish. I always have to go to John Lewis to buy them as well (pack of 10 for something like £2.69). My local tescos started stocking brabantia bin liners but only the 30L ones. I have tried other 50L non-brabantia bin bags and they just tear as you pull them out. HOWEVER, just last week, Tescos have started producing a new pack of strong 50L touch top bin bags, and so far so good. They are still quite expensive (30 for £3.99) and they don't have the yellow ties either, you simply gather each side to tie a knot but they seem ok.
Don't you just hate long signatures

Thanks for that info British beef , its what i thought maybe its just the bottom of the bin what has a plastic coating to prevent damage to floor...just wanted to make sure though as couldnt tell by the picture.

Does this just take the Brabantia bin bags? or can you just use a normal black bin bag? not quite sure if normal size bag would be big enough?

I've had one of these for a while, you don't have to use Brabantia bin liners. I bought some lovely lemon-scented ones with tie handles, I think they were from Glynn Webb. I've had no problems using these and other cheap ones. I bought the chrome one which is very shiny and polished. They then brought out the other one which other people on here have been calling grey. In my opinion that one's a lot nicer, I wish I'd waited for that one. It's like a brushed steel look which is a lot more "now", and is always more expensive than the polished one.

    Mines arrived!

And yes the colour is lovely, its like a brushed steel. I think it will hide any marks on it much easier than a polished one too!

I'm really happy with it but for some reason I was expecting it to had an innard bucket area like a lot of bins, oh well, something less to clean. If the bag burst though you will end up with a dirty floor.

The 50L Brabantia will be available again in the next day or 2, the stock is just being transferred from the warehouse.

I will try and keep an eye on the stock system and post again when they available to order.

mine arrived today & I have to say im extremely happy with it. Ok ok i know its 'only' a bin, but its lovely & the quality is great. They attempted delivery yesterday I wasn't home though. Pretty speedy delivery considering though.
Hope some others managed to make the most of the offer.

  • I received my bin today too. Very pleased! Does anyone know what cheaper bin liners work well with these bins other than Brabantia's own?

Now back in stock but I think website is experiencing difficulties as I tried to place an order, got my CC details entered and then come up with a page about cookies :p. Mine are fine but I've emailed them as i don't think the order went through.

Maybe someone else can try :D
