Best option for freeview signal for tv?

We have been trying to setup the freeview box in the bedroom but cant seem to get a signal for some reason.
Our setup is as follows, moved to our address 3 years ago, new digital aerial (apparently) already installed by the housing at the time, decent booster connected in the attic and deffo powered on. The roof top aerial is deffo connected to the booster and I have checked the connections.
Now trying a tv extension lead (10m length) picks up no signal what so ever. So not to sure on what options I should buy into.
We used to use the extension lead to get the tv upstairs, but the pic was not quite as good as downstairs, thus thinking loss of signal in lead due to length.
Now should we either try a new extension lead to connect to the booster in the attic or would buying a length of coax cable be better?.
Asking about coax cable as an extension lead is not coax and thus will loose signal. So will coax (10m worth) cable be the best option to try and get a signal or is there something else we could try I've not thought about?.

Most aerial extension leads are pretty rubbish quality. You should get a proper additional aerial socket fitted and wired back to a spare outlet on the booster amp.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

I had trouble with a cheap extension kit, bought some decent coax cable and all is well.0
