im more than well educated ill be doing one year at my local college on a access to learner course then 2 years years at sheff uni car nt wait thank s for your crap judgemental advise
Midwifery degrees last for 3 years. If the Access course is one year then it will be full time and you won't be able to do it and claim JSA at the same time, I'm afraid.0 -
well that s not very helpful of them when im finally wanting to do something for myself
But the Benefit is called Job SEEKERS' Allowance and if you are studying full-time you are not seeking full-time work, therefore will not be entitled to this Benefit.
If you are studying a degree level course you may be entitled to a Student loan, plus other Benefits (Child Benefit, Tax Credits) because you have children.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Oh dear! How wonderfully helpfull some people are! Opinions are better kept to our selves i feel if they are negative. Just no need!
Anyway....Can't help you with the JSA i'm afraid but the college course and Midwifery i can.
The Access course can be completed part time (2 evenings a week in my local college), so yes you could hold a PT job along side that route.
I am also trying currently to work out, doing the course and money situation, hoping to start in Sept. I will also be applying to Uni this year for Midwifery studies, which yes, is 3 years. You recieve a generous bursery while stuying the degree.
I urge you to really find all the info you can on the course, the degree and the profession in general. All Midwifery degree's are EXTREMLY hard to get on too, you will need to get as much behind your application as possible, ie, experience in a health care setting, work experience on a maternity ward or with a private Midwife, and show a great deal of knowledge on the current Midwifery practices.
Anyhow, good luck with the money situation/Access course. Plus i recommend you look here studentmidwife.net (you don't have to be a student Midwife, and we're all very nice)

Your local college is not the model for all colleges around the country. I have 6 colleges local to me and non offer access courses in this manner.
Exactly. Where I was, access courses were only offered during the day time.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Are you a troll who started this thread as amusement?
Because when you start a thread with this (BELOW), its designed appear as though you have spent 10 years twiddling your thumbs on income support..........
I suggest you get some basic education before you embark on a degree, little steps;)
I think the OP was implying she has been working until recently but not in a job she enjoys and now her child is older she wants to go back to college and do what she has always wanted to do. I don't see what's wrong with that?'Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans'-John Lennon

hi all im just wanting a bit of advice my daughter has just turned 10 in may and i know that when your child turns ten now you have to change to job seekers well today iv recieved a letter to atend a work focused interview wk after nxt will they stop my income support straight away also im hoping to start college in september how do i go about that
You can't do this! Job centre won't let you as they ain't stupid as they will class it as another EXCUSE to avoid JSA because they will tell you in interview "Why college in september but WHY DIDN'T YOU DO IT before ?".
You will end up in JSA anyway. And no excuse!0 -
i have been on access course and guess what i did claim jsa at the same time !!
you can do this nothing wrong with it you just have to decaire the hours on your timetable under 16 hours, doesnt mean she cant do nightshift which is what i wanted to do at the time, will say it will only last 6 months before they want to send you on the dam silly courses which i got out of because of my disabilty as far as iam concerened why not if she wants to inprove herself good luck to you and you could get adult learners grant for attending lessons up to £30 this might be a bit lower depending on household income thou x

The JCP will require a copy of the learning agreement which should state whether its a full time or part time course and the number of hours.
It would need to be part time and under 16hrs, doesn't need to be at night, so long as the jobseekers agreement reflects they are available for full time work.0 -
