I had some of these, i found them in a bucket that had been stored behind the shed that was full of water..i too thought oh maybe tadpoles, but the gardener told me they were mosquito larvie.... they gave me the creeps as well..as soon as the bucket had any kind of movement ie short tap they went bonkers in the water.0

We've got some very small things but they're black about half an inch long and very thin, it's like they are in two halves one bit moves towards the other to get about iyswim. I thought they might have been gnat larvae but not after reading this thread. I think the frogs must be enjoying them.:)0
