Vodafone signal

I have noticed the signal to my HTC phone on Vodafone has recently got really bad. Has anyone else had this happen and does anyone think this may have someting to do with the fact that you can now buy a 'signal boost' from them? I love a conspiracy theory!

It was a noted issue on both the HTC & Android forums , but only a few people suffered from it.

However!

Last year I did something very very silly. I didn't do my homework and ended up with a Nokia N97 on Vodafone.

I could stand under the transmitter and still only get one bar to light up, At the time, both the Nokia and Vodafone forums were full of the same woe's.

But for some unknown reason people on T-Mob, 02 & Orange were not having anywhere near the same issues with their N97's.

I cant remember if mine was branded and locked ? I only had it for a few days, before I returned it.

I was told the N97 had its antenna moved within the phone and this was causing the issue. But shedloads of N97's were sold, so it couldn't have been a major phone issue.

The 5800 I now have lights up like a xmas tree on 02, but its a bit weak on Vodafone. Im in an excellent signal area for both voda and o2.
