what do I try and transfer onto the HALIFAX card when I apply properly

I'd put £6,650 from the MBNA card (balance plus interest)
    Plus the £2,980 from Egg
    Plus the £3,395 from Mint
    Plus the £1,525 from RBS

There's a snowball's chance in hell of you getting all of it, but there are some anecdotal ideas that asking for large balance transfers encourages larger credit limits (Rodent on the stoozing site asks for £20k as standard and swears blind it works, but he's in a very different position from you).

If you're declined, you can refer to your application and the fact that you want to transfer and close the cards, not increase your overall credit. If you're accepted but not with the limit you're hoping for then you can appeal the limit for the same reason.

You've basically got nothing to lose :) You're going up the congo in a banana boat using a sieve as a paddle. You'll get there, but not without a lot of hard work.

If I were you, and depending how you get on with your shuffle, I'd be thinking about another application in 3 months time to shift debt onto a lower and lower APR basis, with some on 0% for a while if possible.

You're in for a long slog so be prepared for various rejections while you work through your debts. Keep us posted with your progress.

The OP has stated he has problems to pay the minimum repayments. I don't think you've read the whole thread.

Constructive help is always welcome, but for that people need to read the whole thing.

So, not only are you sarcastic you are patronising too. I did read the whole thread, and that is why I suggested what I did. It was only a suggestion.

Really made me laugh that in this crisis of mine :)

Can I not just put in the current balances off each card when applying i.e. the £500 off EGG, and the respective amounts off each other card unlike your example above?

And, it is really safe applying for a credit card using a computer in a library? Or is it okay as long as the https:// and padlock is there?

    Thanks....

FACT: I have a problem repaying the minimum amount on the MBNA card which has rocketed to £150 a month (when it was £30 odd a month).

Ahh right, the that's my idea out the window then, I must've missed that point.

Sounds like balance transfers if you can do, and get more work, which easier said than done. You're in for a challenging time whatever you do, but you know that.

There is of course bankruptcy, but there are many people on this site who would not advocate that, but it is an option, and within a year you will be probably be discharged, but it's unlikely that you will able to get credit for about 6 years, but that won't be any hardship.

You can, but you'll have residual interest to pay. Use the search facility to look up "residual interest" if you're not sure what that is. I'd put in the numbers I listed .... but then I would, cause I listed them ;) The £60 or whatever the difference it makes won't make any difference one way or another to whether you're accepted or not - on the 1% chance that you're successful with all of them, it'll save you money :)

That'll confirm that the site is secure. Delete your browsing history, temporary files and all cookies once you're done and should be fine.

    My world has caved in....

I tried for the HALIFAX 6.9% and got:

"I regret to inform you that after careful consideration your application has not been successful on this occasion"...

Just means try again in 6 months.

Wait 3 months before your next application for anything else.

The previous shuffle didn't need the Halifax account, so it's not the end of the world.

Have you spoken to your existing card providers to see if the shuffle is possible?

    Not had chance yet.

Thing is I didn't even get accepted for the higher 12.9% APR card - things aren't looking good....
