Revamping bathroom - where to put shampoo?!

Hello, we're just about to add a new shower and screen to our existing bath and retile the area and I'm looking for the best shelving option inside the screen or at the other end of the bath.
At the moment we have a chrome rack screwed into the tiles but it's useless and rusty and makes the bottoms of all my shampoos all gross. Is it worth investing in a tiled recess behind the shower? Or are there any other options?
What does everyone else have? Any advice?
Thanks

We've got a suction corner unit that you can fix wherever you need. Not too intrusive, holds a few bottles etc, does the job and doesnt fall off unless properly whacked...plus only around £5/6 from our local 'Trading4u' store:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. I stayed at a hotel which had three containters attached to each other by strong plastic and at the top had hooks to hook on to the top of the shower screen.0

We had our en-suite redone by the landlord a couple of months back, and I wanted some storage in the shower.
I don't like suction cups anymore (we had an accident, when while we were away for a few days, it fell down, knocked shower open and basically flooded the bathroom - wouldn't trust them anymore!!!). I didn't one anything screwed into the tiles - we are renting in the end. And it was attached properly, didn't move for good few months. Unless there was a ghost in the house that 'whacked it'!
So, we went for this:
It looks great, takes barely any space, and even though my husband was very much against it, it doesn't bother him at all.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
I have recently purchased some dispensers for shower gel and shampoo from Amazon - they are wall mounted and have been one of our best buys - no bottles hanging around. Sorry - dont know how to do link.0

Thanks for all your input, guys! All the magazines I've looked at for ideas have those little shelves built into the tiles, but I think that would be expensive and look a bit like a hotel...LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380

Take the shampoo or gel into the shower with you, and when you're done, grab the bottles, rinse them under the shower, tap or in the washbasin, and dry them off with the bath towel.
Then put them somewhere other than in the bath or shower. Shelf? Bathroom cabinet?
They won't get 'gross' this way.0 -

Seriously? You do this?! I don't think I've got the time or discipline to mess around with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, razor, flannel etc every time I want a shower, but thanks for the suggestion.
The 'grossness' refers to the rust from the existing unit, but I suppose this wouldn't happen with stainless steel, rather than chrome fittings.LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -

You don't give a budget but I would recommend the Roman brand. I bought a double corner basket and a rectangular basket for our shower when we had our bathroom re-done a year ago from Boundary Bathrooms.
Yes, much more expensive than the old rusty ones we had before but with a 10 year guarantee they are still looking good one year on.

HI, have a look on this page, scroll down halfway.
http://www.advanceglass.com/products/showers/showers.html
We have these in chrome, they have little labels for you to put on that says shampoo/conditioner/shower gel.
We've also got a single one for liquid hand soap above the sink.
The pictures are rubbish, they really do look very smart.
I got ours from EBay, they're not cheap but you only have to buy once.......I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Cheap and cheerful solution? I know that it isn't everyones' cup of tea but being fed up with rusty chrome, I opted for a plastic across-the- bath thingy (!) Obviously we have an over bath shower and find that everything drains back into the bath without making a mess and I just clean it at the same time as the bath. Simple! The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.
