I have a morphy richards which I got of freecycle and I love it. I only use it once a week but I think it is so much nice than shop bought bread, especially as I live on my own and can't get though a whole big loaf.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

I have a panny and find it great now. I lost my mojo with it but then realised I was using the wrong yeast and that was the problem! Now i'm back using it it's great!
I worked it out to about 30p a loaf. Last year it was 15p a loaf but c'est la vie!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
I'd say if you are used to making bread by hand then no - the only value mine has had is in getting me into proper bread making. The bread just isn't as nice as proper hm. I raise my bread in the fridge and bake 3 loaves at a time - the rising is what gives bread its flavour so a quick rise will never be as nice as a longer onePeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I have to say mine is hardly used now. I went mad when I got it and ended up with a really bad stomach! from all the bread. There was a thread on here recently about a Currys one I think at £13.99 in their sale? Otherwise, they come up quite often on freecycle.
Its not actually quicker I dont think than hand making bread, as you still have to leave it to rise.0 -
I used to have a morphy and loved it, then it broke and so I bought another - that broke too  MR have great customer service but it seemed to me that the breadmakers just weren't up to constant use.
Now I handmake.
Handmaking does take longer but does taste better imo.0 -
I bought a currys one 2 weeks ago @ £13.99 as my old third hand one was well past it's best. I use it on the dough setting mainly, as we have more flatbreads and pizzas than actual bread; but even just that it's well worth it.0

I love my Morphy Richards bread maker but i use it mainly for mixing the dough which i then use for cobs in the oven or pizza. I don't think it cooks the loaf properly and no matter what i have tried the crust is too crunchy and over cooked....so i only make a loaf of bread in it to use for toast.
I previously had a larger MR breadmaker which made fab loaves of bread so i don't know why this one doesn't.
Anyway, I still wouldn't be without it, though if i ever need to buy a new one i would maybe go for a panasonic as it seems to have really good reviews.
Hope i haven't confused you0 -
Thanks everyone I make 1loaf a week by hand on average.
Hubbys not keen on my bread unfortunatly says its too heavy thinks hes too addicted to white shop bread.
My fave is seeded batch which I yet to make myself.
Is it less mess as hubby hates it when i make pizza as takes ages to scrape dough off top. Ahh this talk of pizza makes me want to make one to tonight.
Alsoi thourght you could make jams in breadmaker too.
Im not sure but panasonic seems hightly regarded I think irons with morphy richards.
Might have a think as cost of bread in shops continually rising.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Do you rate yours.
How easy is it
Does it taste nice.
I normally make by hand whic can be timeconsuming as lots of time for rising is it quicker in machine.
Watching a morphy richards on ebay.
I've got a panny, I really like it.
But I think the Kenwood (the silver one) beats it in reviews now, plus it looks better.0 -
I was given a MR fastbake and have been using it quite often....OH doesn't really like the bread but I do, find that it turns out best if I set the BM when I am going to bed for bread to be cooked in morning....don't ask why, I don't know. I also use the dough setting for when I am making pizza.
Gailey, you will certainly find it less messy to make both bread and pizza dough with a breadmaker, not sure if I would bother with an expensive one if you only use one loaf every week though. Jam is just as easy to make in a pot as anything else so wouldn't consider that when thinking about it....but I am a silly old bat who has been making jam since before breadmakers were invented!
