WARNING...
These are rubbish. The two i ordered are going back.
The adjustment screw simply broke off and fell into the adaptor on one of them after trying to adjust it because it didn't switch slave items off.
The other simply does not work with my PC as the master device ( which is the main use for these) . Turning the adjustment screw :
you have it so it switches the devices off when the pc shuts down - but when switching the pc back on it does not turn the other devices back on.
Or
Turning the adjustment screw the tiniest fraction the other way:
It turns the devices on when the PC switches on , but does not tun them off when it shuts down.
They would be good if they worked.0 -
What's the purpose of the adjustment screw??simes wrote:WARNING...

Why is one needed if it's supposed to be automatic??

The adjustment screw is to adjust the switching threshold.
According to the instructions it should only need adjusting when:
The appliance connected to the master socket is not completely switched off ,but in standby mode consumes more than 10 watts.
or
The appliance consumes less than 80 watts when switched on.
As i said - it fails to work with my PC. Perhaps they use more than 10 watts in standby - but the adjustment screw does not allow me to get it to work properly.
The one-click model has a more sophisticated detector - hence its £30 price.0 -

I bought 3 about a year ago.
The first one was used with a PC to power on/off all the peripherals when the PC was started up. It worked fine for a while until after a month or two the peripherals didn't power up. So I adjusted the screw until they did. This was ok for a few days until the peripherals didn't turn off when the PC was shut down. So I adjusted the screw until they powered off. A few days later when the PC was switched on the peripherals didn't start up.... I bet you can guess where this is going.... I now just have it set as a normal multi-gang socket and switch on/off at the mains hidden behind the desk. Bit of a pain but I got fed up messing with the screw and complains from the family when screen & speakers weren't working when the turned the PC on.
The second one was used by my brother to connect his hi-fi and subwoofer. After a while the sub failed to startup when the hi-fi was switched on. After much messing he gave up and just switched the sub on permanently.
The third is currently working ok, finger crossed, with another hi-fi and powered subwoofer.
I hope that the new ones are more reliable.0 -
Anyone received a letter saying they are having technical diffuculties taking payment from your card and require a cheque sending to them within 10 days?0

Nice idea, but your PC uses power even when it is turned off. The only way to stop it is to turn it off at the wall, as I do for my PC and Tv (what a goody two shoes
) Doing my best as a contrarian investor...property, banking...let's see how it goes

same here, i'd also want my printer left on so i can remotely print using my laptop. I can see why it's a good idea though0
