Contaminated Fuel

Hi all i hope i could get some advice.
After a major loss of power and the emissions warning light coming on i have had a diagnostic on my 07 1.6 sxi astra.
Large motoring organisation have advised that it is due to contaminatefd fuel. I called the supermarket as i had filled up monday and within 10 miles this occured and they have basically said they have no other reports so they would not accept liability.
Nowthe engine has been looked into further and the issues are consistent with silicone damage and i am looking at a large repair bill before the CAT has been looked at.
Now i am having analysis results of the fuel returning Monday however the supermarket in question so far aren't budging.
I am unemployed and just cannot afford a bill of this size so here i think are my options?
1. Obtain the results which if they are confirmed then pursue the supermarket for the repairs(i have an appointment with CAB Tuesday in case).
2. Is it possible to claim on insurance in these instances?
3. Pay(not a clue how yet however will need a car for when i get a job) and then pursue the supermarket via small claims.
I appreciate your responses.

Have you got legal cover on your insurance?
If so you've probably got a helpline number you can phone.
Nothing to lose eh."I, on the other hand, am a fully rounded human being with a degree from the university of life, a diploma from the school of hard knocks, and three gold stars from the kindergarten of getting the sh*t kicked out of me." ~ Capt. E. Blackadder0 -
Try searching for tesco fuel, contaminated fuel etc on these forums. Theres a few well documented cases (even when the supermarket denied liability).
It may give you some good pointers.

Just a quick update, Sainsburys have called and said there have been no other occurances so even if my sample comes back as contaminated they will not pay.
I highlighted the fact they could tell me that and pointed to 2007 when they did the same even though it was a nationally recognised problem and he couldn't answer.
Then sprang on him information from a former collegue i got last night. There were repairs to the pumps i was at the following day could yo go back to the manager and ask them why?
He was stumped and flustered so awaiting the call back!0 -
Go back to the petrol station with a friend or a couple of friends, ask the person serving you (buy a couple of drinks etc NOT PETROL AGAIN)
infront of your mates ask how the work the work went on the pumps last week or when it was.
Get them to write a statement or record the conversation.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.
