Dear all,
My brother is off to Glastonbury for the first time this year. I am hoping to put together an 'essentials' pack with all of the things that he will not have thought to pack but that might prove useful.
List so far:
bin bags
loo roll
suncream
wet wipes
sugary snacks
pringles
plasters
What else could I add?
Many thanks

Hi!
Daughter went last year and has advised not to take loo roll but tissues instead cos when you drop the whole roll your'e in trouble!! a tissue doesn't matter cos you have lots!! Hope he has a great time.'Neither a lender nor a borrower be'
Now why didn't I take any notice of the
second part of that quote!!???0 -

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

I went last year, and took some tissues that had menthol vapour in them. One up each nostril before going in the loos and voila, no smell!!! Did make my nose tingle a bit tho!
Was going to go back this year and take loads and sell them outside the loos, would have made a fortune as people kept begging to have some when they saw them!!0 -
Remember you will have to walk at least an hour in the heat with all your gear when you arrive!
Little bag to carry around in the day with extra layers/sunglasses/toilet kit as below.
Handy items include
a little toilet pack of:
disinfectant wipes (for loo seat)
toilet roll (take two half rolls as these squash flat, rather than one whole roll)
germ killing alcohol handwash
squeezy soap
in a clear zip plastic sponge bag so you can see contents in the semi dark
small powerful torch for your pocket (you'll trip over a lot of guy ropes)
face wipes
eye drops if you have sensitive eyes (bonfire smoke gets in your eyes)
mini bottle of shampoo to wash hair at lunchtime (there are massive queues in the morning 7-11am by any sinks for people to wash in cold water. If you wait til 12 or 1 the sun will be out and the queues will be gone - your hair dries faster and you're not freezing!)
sunglasses and hat - you can get quite a headache out all day in the sun (ditto paracetamol)
sunblock
mobile phone solar/ battery charger
space blanket (tin foil sheet) less heavy than an extra bedding layer. ALso good for sitting round campfire after dark.
lilo to sleep on (infinitely more comfortable than the ground, not too heavy to carry and air layer under you keeps you warm)
wellies! Even if it's not rained much it may rain when you're there and that many thousand people walking around soon churns things up. Try them out beforehand and make sure they fit. You'll be on your feet most of the day and want to be comfortable.
Fold up chair for when you don't want to be on your feet (between acts, or a lot of the daytime bands will have more of a chilled out vibe, but the audience will all be standing later. As well as muddy, the ground gets surprisingly covered in litter for a festival with an eco vibe). Fold up chairs are only good if all your friends have one too!
Good waterproofs. When the weather is really shocking, it's good to be completely covered up. If everything you're sitting on is muddy/wet, it's good to have waterproof leggings and not worry about it. Trousers under waterproof leggings can get bunched up/sweaty, so cotton lycra leggings underneath are most comfortable - not sure what the boy's equivalent is, but not jeans!
Hope he has fun!0 -
For a torch how about a wind up torch or if you take a normal torch take some extra batteries0
