    Is it registered?
    Where was it bought?

If it was a serious crime i'm sure the police would look at the cctv or ebay receipts to find the phone owner for example :)

On a police request the network can tell them which cell towers it's being used by.

? Depends on what they'd done.
If it's a contract they can give the police all the info (with the right requests), same for pagy if it registered.

Not my dept, but I know that the police liaison section can do really interesting things. But they keep very much to themselves. . .

With the systems I have access to I could track people through cell towers, I'm sure they have far better toys.

    Thanks for the replies.

A friend of mine send some txts to a number he thought he knew not bad txts r anything just about underware he says!!

He sent roughly 10-15 txts in the space of a few hours and then stopped.

He says it was about 3-4 weeks ago. He has now got 3 voicemail messages from the police requesting him to call them. The officer he has to contact will not be back till later in the week, he will contact then.

Does anyone know what will happen, if anything? Is it the police following up on a complaint they recieved??

That does sound like the police following up on a complaint, yes.

Depends on what was texted (or how it could be interpreted). He could end up with just a caution at the lowest end of things. I believe there are fines and having his phone contract taken away for misuse (and I believe they have power to prevent him getting another, but like I said, it's not my dept).

The CAB might be a good place to ask?
  • Thanks Jon 01 for you comments I have pm you can you please check?

Could he be took up for harrassement? I told him no as he did not continually send txts for a period of time??
