Can I keep my existing number if I buy an O2 sim ?
I've just cancelled my Carphone Warehouse O2 contract after 18 months and have decided to get an O2 Simplicity sim only deal as I'm quite happy with the phone I've got.
Can I keep my number if I do this or have I got to have a new number ?
Thanks from a technophobe !

Hi there
You need the MAC code for your existing phone number - Carphone Warehouse or O2 should be able to give this to you. Once you have that, you then call O2 from the new number and give them the MAC code to transfer the number over. It should take about 48 hours to change over.
Alternatively, phone O2 from your existing mobile number and say "Please would you transfer my phone on to a Simplicity tarrif" and they will just change your contract without the need for number/sim/MAC changes. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
but it's PAC - p for porting
MAC is used for migration of landline broadband deals0 -
If you've cancelled the old acc you've lost the number. As stated above, if you want to keep your number you have to request a pac code. You old acc ends when the codes used.0

Don't think you can move a number from o2 contract to o2 contract. You'll have to move it to another network or o2 PAYG first.
I believe CPW will move it to a PAYG sim, but you must topup £10.0 -
