Orange Answer Phone Question
Hi
I have just moved my mobile contract from O2 (iphone 3G) to Orange (iphone 3GS). I'm really happy with Orange so far (better signal, Orange Wednesdays). There is one thing that is bugging me: On my O2 iphone the answer phone was on/in the iphone i.e. no need to dial up a answer phone service. With Orange I have to dial up thier answer phone service and wade through options. The minutes for dialling up the answer phone are included in my monthly minutes. I think this is a ploy by Orange for me to use up my monthly free minutes quickly and start using charged time. I have read that it is fairly simple to cancel the Orange answer phone service (just call them and ask), but my question is if I do cancel this, will I still have the in-built iphone answer phone just like I had on O2?
Thanks for your help.

Silly question: have you phoned Orange and asked them to cancel the answerphone and then tried it?In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

If you're describing Visual Voicemail, that's only supported on O2.0

The iPhone does not have an answer phone built in.
It's just tightly integrated to the o2 network and the (as said above) visual voicemail service, so it appears to you that it on the phone.0 -

I wasn't describing visual voicemail. But the above answers my question. Problem is I could do with a voicemail service, I just prefer the way O2 do it compared with Orange. So the options are; cancel it and not have a voicemail service or just live with it. Thanks for the answers.0 -
Correct, only O2 supports visual voicemail. With all other networks, you will have to call your voicemail in the traditional manner.0
