Which Banks/Credit Card Companies accept you with an old default?

I have a default from 3yrs ago with Natwest they charged me alot as the original amount was fairly small, but their charges made it £800.

Now I buried my head in the sand over it to be fair, but trying to face the problem I wrote a letter asking if I paid it off would they remove the default etc no joy.

So I ask which companies use the last 36mths history or don't mind one default if its from 2007?
Bank Account: Abbey No Overdraft & Electron!, Lloyds TSB Premier,
Credit Card: Vanquis Limit £250, Sygma £400, Captial One £200
Catalogues: Freemans Limit £200
Jacamo Limit £1000
Marshall Ward Limit £200
Mobile: 3 network £20 pm x 24mths, Vodafone £35pm

If the default is not 'settled', there is no chance at all.

Keep your head low for the next three years and the entry will fall off.

No I asked as I think NID wrote that certain banks only look at 3yrs. I have been accepted for all my other accounts within last 18mths so I know you can.

I was just looking for another credit card or bank account. As Natwest are awful

Only likely to be the subprime cards like the vanquis that you already have.
You should be able to get a basic bank account at any bank as these don't require a credit check.

If you settle the debt then you should stand a better chance. Refusing to settle because they won't remove the default doesn't seem sensible. Have you tried offering a reduced full & final to take into account the charges?

Go ahead, I didn't realize you wanted to get another Mickey Mouse card with £200 limit.
No proper card or bank account will touch you with a default, you’ve failed to settle.
